On June 06, 2009 RSA Security, Inc released the much awaited RSA SecurID Software Token for the iPhone. This is a huge step for the iPhone becoming more of an Enterprise device. One of the biggest complaints for the iPhone was you had to carry a RSA hard token with the iPhone to log in to remote systems. I’m glad that the developers at RSA realized that there is a demand for this App. If your company uses RSA SecurID then talk with them about getting the iphone users set up with this new app.
More about RSA…
The RSA SecurID iPhone Application is a two-factor authentication that is based on something you have (an authenticator) and something you know (a PIN). This provides a company with a way to keep their systems very secure from outsiders and hackers. They are an industry leader in creating sensitive security authentications. You can read more about RSA at their website www.rsa.com
Installing the RSA Softtoken on your iPhone with our HTML Converter…
To install the RSA Softtoken on your iphone you need to create a clickable link in a email. You also need a special converter found at RSA’s website. This can be a timely process to follow the directions provided with the RSA SecurID Software Token Converter. Our developers here at iPhone Download World have made the process a little bit easier by creating a batch file that does a lot of the work for you. There is another website that offers a similar process but they have it all online. (I don’t know about you, but I would not submit my company’s security information to some random website) That’s why we created this batch file. You can download it and run it on you own machine.
What you will need to set up RSA on the iphone.
- An iphone with the RSA app installed. Get the RSA App
- The RSA SecurID Software Token Converter found on their website
- iPhone Download World’s HTML Token Converter
- You company must also have purchased RSA Authentication Manager & Software Token Seeds from RSA
Follow these simple steps to get an HTML file that you can email to your iphone:
- Once you have everything downloaded, unzip the RSA SecurID Software Token Converter to c:\TokenConverter240
- Place the HTML Token Converter into that folder
- In your RSA Manager create or reissue a software token
- Place that software token in the c:\TokenConverter240\ folder
- Click on the HTML Token Converter and enter the full name of the software token i.e. xxxxxx.sdtid and hit enter
- It will then create a text file called Token.txt and then create a HTML file called Token.html
- Email that HTML file as an attachment to the iphone
- Open the attachment and click on the link in the attachment
- The RSA Software on the iPhone will then install the token
**NOTE** if you unzip the software to a different folder other than c:\TokenConverter240\ then you will have to edit the batch file to the correct folder. The Batch code line is you will need to edit is [start c:\TokenConverter240\TokenConverter240.exe %INPUT% -iphone -o c:\TokenConverter240\Token.txt]
This has not tested with linux. If you have any questions or have any problems with this, please leave a comment and we can see if we can help you.
If you find this tool useful, which I know you will, please consider a small donation to help improve this converter. Thanks

I follow the steps as mentioned above, when I open the Token.html on the iphone I get a link, but when the link is clicked it does nothing, and then when you go back to the message and retry the link disappears as well. Any help will be appreciated.
N/M got it working….
Thank you for providing a simple application that works, that RSA should have provided. You should market this document and batch file to RSA to get some dollars for your sense (cents).
Thank you very much Rob. I appreciate your comment.
For whatever reason, I mail the link, click on it, and it just shows a blank page… any ideas of what I’m doing wrong?
Matt when you run the batch file, you need to make sure the “token.txt” file shows up before you “Press any key to continue…”
Could you please elaborate your step #3: “In your RSA Manager create or reissue a software token”
If I’m an RSA admin and I need to issue a token to John Blow how can I save it to the file and use it with your utility?
Thanks!
I
You would issue a software token just like you would for a blackberry. You assign a software token to John Blow, then it varies because of the different versions of the Security Console. You need to save the token to you computer. it is a file that usually looks like jblow_000111102222.sditd. That is the file you use with the utility
Hi Geoff, I feel like I’m so close but still no dice. I followed your instructions to the letter, but have a few questions to make sure i’m doing it right. Issued a software token from RSA Authentication Manager and directed the xxxx.sdtid to c:\TokenConverter240\folder. I also get a window pop Save Software Token Result asking “Do you want to save the result to a file?” I click yes and save it to c:\TokenConverter240\folder. I then double click on HTMLTokenConverter.bat, run it and enter the softtoken name and hit enter. This is where I get stumped. I get another popup window, C:\TokenConverter240\Tokenconverter240.exe stating “Windows cannot find’c\TokenConverter240\TokenConverter.exe’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for the file, click the Start Button, and then click Search.” I click ok and the cmd says:
RSA HTML Token Converter
This will create the HTML file that you can
email to the iphone for a softtoken RSA install.
Please enter the softtoken name (xxxx.sdtid): SN000108424739-MULTI.sdtid
Your input was SN000108424739-MULTI.sdtid
The system cannot find the file c:\TokenConverter240\TokenConverter240.exe.
The Token.txt has been created.
Creating the HTML file named Token.html
Press any key to continue . . .
Reading your July 30 comment. Am I suppose to wait till i see a token.txt appear on the c\TokenConverter240 folder or is that just confirmation from the cmd prompt? When i Press any key to continue, i do get a token.html which i emailed to my user but all he see’s a blank page. Ideas? Where am i messing up? I apologize for the long post. Just frustrated. Thank you for your time -Roman
It sounds to me like the RSA’s Token Converter240.exe isn’t installed. I will shoot you an email….
