Apple iPhone 4S Was Hottest iPhone Yet at 89% Of Sales Mix

How do you know you’ve got a winning product? Ask Apple, because regardless of the negativity from disappointed and unimpressed consumers, to poor and lackluster reviews from the media, the iPhone 4S dominated. In fact, it dominated in such a way that it accounted for 89% of all iPhone purchases in Q4 2011 (October 1st – December 31st 2011). So, no matter how prospective smartphone buyers, particularly iPhone buyers had felt about the iPhone 4S, they still came in waves to buy it.

Apple reported in their earnings call for Q4 2011 that they had sold 37 million iPhones, give or take a few. 89% of that 37 million was the iPhone 4S. I’d say that’s a pretty successful launch, wouldn’t you? It’s obvious now that Apple is on a roll, but the real question we’ll have answered in a couple years, is how much of that momentum for innovation is from the Steve Jobs pool of creation and genius? Can Apple continue to move ahead with technological prowess after Jobs’ ideas are put into the hands of the consumers?
