SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Chomp, the leading app search engine, today announced the launch of a completely redesigned version of Chomp for the iPhone. the Chomp iPhone app includes a new interface and a number of features that make it even faster to find apps – not limiting users to search based only on the name of an app – but giving them the ability to discover new titles based on what an app actually does.

“Over the last year, we’ve conducted multiple focus groups and solicited input from our users,” said Ben Keighran, CEO and co-founder of Chomp. “Based on their input and what we’ve learned during our time on the market we decided to take another leap forward. We didn’t limit ourselves to existing best practices or what we’d invested in our previous interface design.”

the newly designed home screen includes a prominent search box that automatically begins displaying search suggestions from the moment the first letter is typed, allowing for rapid results and an opportunity to discover new apps. once a search word or term is entered, large app cards are displayed, providing the most relevant apps for that search term. the user simply flips through the app cards to find the perfect app based on what they want to do. each app card includes the app name, price, review rating and a Get it button taking them to the exact page in the app store where they can download the app.

the home screen also includes the top ten suggested search terms as determined by what is actively trending, e.g., chat, fashion, romantic, money and free TV shows, while displaying preview icons of the top apps for each category.

Additionally, five user-recommended topic tiles are displayed on the home screen, giving users the ability to quickly and easily explore and discover new apps in the following categories: Free apps of the day displays apps that have recently become free; the Top 100 displays the top 100 apps in the iTunes store based on Chomp’s proprietary ranking system; the New apps features recently released apps organized by popularity; on sale displays apps that have been marked down in price; and Surprise me, which randomly selects apps.

And only Chomp makes discovering new apps easier with the new “Related Searches” feature. right above the app search results tiles, related search terms are now displayed. with one click users are taken down another discovery path. Additional features from the newest version also include a button on the home screen for one click Twitter and Facebook sign-in, which makes sharing app reviews easier than ever.

the new Chomp iPhone app is available for download at Chomp.com and iTunes.
