AT&T Changes Policy And Will Now Unlock Off-Contract iPhones [Updates]

If you need to use your iPhone with another carrier besides AT&T, now you can. Beginning April 8th, AT&T will unlock off-contract iPhone for customers in good standing with the company. This policy change is most useful for customers who travel outside the country and need to change carriers in order to use their phones.

AT&T released the following statement last Friday:Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer’s account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.

So in other words, not only must your AT&T account be in good standing, but your contract with the company must be ended in order for your phone to be unlocked. you can’t get it unlocked while under contract in order to switch to say T-Mobile.

This policy change came after Apple’s CEO Tim Cook requested last month that AT&T unlock the iPhone of a customer whose job relocated him to Canada, and he wanted to keep using his iPhone 3GS, which was no longer under contract, with a Canadian pay-as-you-go carrier. AT&T customers have long criticized the policy that kept them from switching their iPhone to another carrier even when it was paid off. The policy appears to only apply to U.S. customers.

I installed the program and hooked my iPhone up to my PC. Presto ALL DONE I couldn’t believe it It took less the 1 minute to unlock my iPhone

Basically you just click the unlock now button, and wait for the finished screen to appear. I was amazed at how fast my iPhone was unlocked, but I wondered whether I was going to be able to make a call with it.

Next I disconnected my phone and placed my Rogers (cell company here in Canada) SIM card into the iPhone’s SIM slot. a few seconds later the Rogers logo appeared on my screen Wow that was fast and completely painless.

Works like absolute magic

The iPhone unlock software was a really wise purchase and I’m so happy with my phone now The best part of all is that I also have unlimited access to all the movies, TV shows, music, sports, games and programs I could ever want for my iPhone. It’s all included with the iPhone unlock software

PRESS RELEASE

Finding the right job may not be the easiest task. in a recent survey by the Institute for Labor Studies, young people find job hunting as a labyrinthine experience. It’s a period of transition and a time for venturing and exploring unknown grounds. It is a time for learning and a challenging time filled with doubt and anxiety.  Add to the challenge, the increase in the pool of jobseekers this year. More than 480,000 will graduate from college and will join the race for jobs. what then should jobseekers look forward to?

What are job opportunities for 2012?

Based on the industry study conducted by JobStreet.com, job seekers can expect more than 2 million jobs this year.  Last year, there were 2.7 million job vacancies posted in online and print media, more than 40% of which were posted in JobStreet.com, and with this year’s economic outlook on the upswing we are expecting at least the same or even more. JobStreet’s Marketing Director, Yoda Buyco shares, “We are very happy that the country’s top employers have entrusted us with majority of their job vacancies. This helps us fulfill our mission of providing Filipinos with the most options, and ultimately better lives from better careers.” she adds “jobs available this year can be approximated by last year’s trends”

Of the 2.7 Million job vacancies 64% are local, while 36% are jobs overseas. The following are the most in demand local and overseas industries and specializations.

The top local industries were 1) IT enabled services/ Business Process Outsourcing, 2) Manufacturing & Production, 3) Retail & Merchandise, 4) Computer & Information Technology, 5) Construction/ Building & Engineering.

The top local specializations are 1) Engineering & Technology, 2) Customer Service, 3) IT/Computer 4) Finance, 5) Sales 6) Business Administration & 7) Clerical & Administrative support 8) Human Resources 9) Healthcare (doctors, nurses, medical support, pharmacy) and 10) Food, beverage & restaurant services specializations.

For jobs overseas the top industries were 1) Healthcare, 2) Transportation & Logistics, 3) Heavy Industrial, Machinery & Equipment, 4) Hotel & Hospitality, and 5) Consulting.

While the  top overseas specializations for 2012 are: 1) Engineering & Technology, 2) General Work (housekeeper, driver, dispatch, messenger, etc.) 3) Healthcare, 4) Food, Beverage & Restaurant service, 5) Manufacturing & Production Operations, 6) Maintenance/ Repair (Facilities and Machinery), 7) Architecture/ Interior Design, 8) Clerical/ Administrative Support,  9) Sales and  10) Finance with most of them available in the Middle East, Singapore, Australia, new Zealand, North America and Malaysia.

How do jobseekers find jobs today?

In today’s digital age, where the rate of innovation is at its fastest, the job application process has evolved to require less physical effort. Jobseekers can either immediately apply through online job portals or send emails directly to company websites. A recent JobStreet.com survey showed that most jobseekers nowadays resort to online sources to seek employment. two of the top four practices for job searching and application are done online. They include: using online job portals/ job sites and scanning through company websites, the others are referrals through friends or personal network, and walking-in to offices.

Triggers for applying to jobs have also evolved. gone are the days when one needs to push and shove to scout for jobs, or walk in every single building along Ayala Avenue because innovations from online job portals have made seeking for jobs much more convenient. Jobs that match one’s qualifications can now be received through email automatically and job advertisements have gone beyond basic announcements, one can now apply to jobs that are posted online.

Get ahead of the jobhunting race

With JobStreet.com’s commitment to make job hunting the easiest and most convenient through its innovations, jobseekers can find their dream jobs right at their fingertips with its latest offering- the JobStreet Mobile App.

Yolanda Buyco, JobStreet.com Philippines Marketing Director shares, “the Jobstreet Mobile App takes ease and convenience of job hunting to the next level- you can now search and apply for the job you desire anytime, anywhere. all you need are your 3G mobile device and mobile internet connection.”

She further explains: “There are more than a million mobile applications available now, most are in the games category, but our company saw the medium’s potential for job hunting. as of the moment, the usage of mobile apps is the most personal among devices. Desktop computers and laptops can be shared, but mobile phones and tablets are one’s personal tool-  and job hunting, especially for Filipinos, is a very private pursuit. second, although the games category is the most popular, people actually find other uses for their mobile device. I have observed more and more people in Metro Manila to be using tablets for their grocery lists, so why not for other productive uses such as job hunting? one can also observe how mobile phones have gone past its basic functions of calling and texting. The Philippines, being the texting capital of the world has started to advance with more than 5 million Filipinos surfing the internet through their mobile phones. With social media sites encouraging subscribers to use their phones to surf the internet, add to it that smartphones are getting cheaper, and Telecommunications Companies are decreasing mobile internet browsing rates, more Filipinos find mobile surfing more accessible specially the younger market and those with less buying power.”

Hubert Punongbayan, JobStreet.com Senior Marketing Officer shares how jobseekers can take advantage of the JobStreet Mobile App: “To start, download the Mobile App for for free from: jobstreet.com.ph/mobile-app. It is currently available in major devices such as: iPhone/ iPad, Android and BlackBerry. then you can start searching for jobs easily by typing in keywords like the job title, skill, specialization and others. You can also enjoy applying to jobs in one-click. You’ll just need to sign up for a JobStreet account.

The Mobile App also comes in with new helpful features. if you see a job you’re interested in but can’t check the details immediately you can simply click the save job button so you can view the details at a later time, even while you’re offline.  if you can’t squeeze in searching for jobs in your hectic schedule, you can view the latest recommendations and job matches from LiNa, your personal career agent, in the job alerts tab. The job alerts that you will receive will be based on your set preferences and your profile. These are some of the feaures that one can enjoy with the Mobile App, and with JobStreet’s commitment to its development, there are certainly a lot more to look forward to in the near future.”

This job hunting season, the need to stay ahead in the race for jobs is more pressing. Finding and learning about job options that are aligned with one’s goals is a critical part of the job hunting process. Carolyn Enriquez, JobStreet.com’s Senior Marketing Manager shares, “With offerings such as the JobStreet Mobile App, searching and applying for jobs become much easier and more convenient. It allows job opportunities to be conveniently available anytime, anywhere.  It empowers job seekers to immediately act on offers that are posted online and ultimately should help them find their dream jobs.

HTC One S On T-Mobile, The TmoNews Preview

Update: I’ve left the review as is, however, after reaching out to T-Mobile with concerns over the speed, I was told that review devices were not yet provisioned for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42 network. that would completely explain my experience and it’s not uncommon to see this happen with review devices. they are often preliminary or non-final versions of devices customers can purchase. T-Mobile provided me with the following statement:

During your review of the HTC One S, you may have noticed speeds inconsistent with your past experience on our HSPA+ 42 network.  these are not the speeds consumers will experience – your pre-launch device needs to be provisioned today to provide access to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42 network. This provision will be active on consumer devices at launch.

There is little question the HTC One S is the biggest launch for T-Mobile thus far in 2012. With little in the pipeline since January, the introduction of the One S marks a return for T-Mobile to “high-profile” Android devices. while the possibility of a Galaxy S III variant on T-Mobile looms overhead, the One S have the crown of the most anticipated launch on T-Mobile so far in 2012.

Make sure to read the update before reading this: right away, I will say the first thing I’ve noticed with the One S is the slow HSPA+ speeds compared to the Galaxy S Blaze 4G I reviewed just a few weeks ago. The difference is night and day and it’s a little disappointing, though I can’t say it’s entirely the phones fault. I’ve only had the One S since Monday so it’s definitely not gone through my rigorous round of speed tests and I will venture out to the recommended locations T-Mobile offers for South Florida. I love that T-Mobile recommends I venture out to a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts location to really see what the HSPA+ phone can do, they know me so well. I mean, I’m at Starbucks every day anyway, might as well do some speed tests! The highest speed I’ve achieved was just north of 15Mbps, speeds in the 5-7 range were much more common and that’s a change from the Blaze 4G speeds I saw.

The first thing I noticed about the One S is how light it is, and yet it feels completely sturdy in my hand. all in all, I really like the form factor and I can’t imagine lengthier tests will change my mind. The physical hardware is great.

Phone calls do sound a little tinny, but overall earpiece volume and speaker volume work quite well. The tinny sound wasn’t something I typically experience, but I need to continue testing out the device before I can decide if this is a real problem or something random on my end.

The HTC One S posts an impressive Quadrant Score of 4314, definitely a quality number if you put a lot of stock into Quadrant results. overall, in the 48 hours I’ve used the phone, I haven’t seen or experienced any lag and the One S has handled multitasking like a champ.

Sense 4.0 remains a love it or hate it experience, overall I enjoy Sense just a bit more than I do TouchWiz. I find Sense to be a little more attractive overall, but not necessarily more functional. from a purely aesthetic standpoint, Sense seems like the better choice in my book.

The camera is great and yet I can’t figure — yet — if I think it performs better than my One S. I need more time with the device and more experience snapping pictures to truly make that determination. regardless, the One S produces image quality that will definitely satisfy the smartphone shooter. are images as astounding as HTC makes them out to be? That’s to-be-determined.

Overall, I’m really enjoying my time with the One S and I look forward to continuing putting it through its paces. Expect a more comprehensive review soon! The HTC One S for T-Mobile will go on sale April 25th, for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.

How To Unlock AT&T Out-Of-Contract iPhones Without Losing Untethered Jailbreak

After approving the user, AT&T sends an email with instructions to complete the unlock.

However, there's a glitch. Users, who care about their jailbreak, might not be able to unlock their iPhone without losing the untethered jailbreak on their device.

iDownloadBlog has shared a process to unlock the iPhone without having to restore or lose the untethered jailbreak:

Step 2: Plug the iPhone in and follow the steps to put it in DFU mode. To know how to put the iPhone in DFU mode, click here.

Step 3: After RedSn0w recognizes the iPhone, select “Jailbreak” option.

Step 4: On the following screen, deselect “Install Cydia” and select “Deactivate”.

Step 5: The device will have lines of codes running on the screen, which is normal.

Step 6: Wait until the device reboots and then launch iTunes. iTunes will then give a message saying that the iPhone has successfully been unlocked.

For users who travel overseas, an unlocked iPhone is ideal as they can use a cheaper SIM card from a local GSM wireless carrier, rather than paying for expensive service from AT&T, PCWorld reported.

The report added that Unlocked AT&T phones will work on T-Mobile's network, though data speeds will be slower than 3G. in addition, “AT&T's unlocked phones won't work on Sprint or Verizon, due to their use of CDMA networks that don't rely on SIM cards.”

No 3GS for IOS5

Not sure if you’re keeping up with the latest iPhone 5 rumors but I just heard something pretty disturbing that will affect all those hanging on to their old iPhone 3G and 3GS’s out there – including yours truly.

I’m sure many of you have seen those great BestBuy buy Back commercials. you know – the one with the little kid running around telling her dad you got the wrong TV dummy. well if you haven’t, its kind of worth checking out. anyways, I’m the kind of guy who usually skips a year of Madden, NBA Live, Tiger Woods, or [insert other random annual game here] and gets the new version every other year or so. usually there’s not much in the new release to warrant the new game price tag but even if there is – screw it because I’m cheap I don’t like falling prey to those kinds of bank account squeezing marketing tactics.

Apple is pretty infamous for this, releasing a new version of each of their products every year or so. It’s a great business model as everybody likes to keep up with the latest and greatest and there’s certainly nothing wrong with this but it’s just not for me. I still have my 1st gen iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano because they still work great and I don’t see any reason to upgrade to the newer ones. yes, the iPhone 4 looks pretty damn cool and the Retina display makes my 3GS look like an ugly turd but it works and I don’t see the point in upgrading yet. well, to stay true to my every other year upgrade I decided to pass on the iPhone 4 and just wait for the upcoming iPhone 5 release.

Well, it looks like Apple might be forcing my hand here with the latest iOS 5. according to a Tweet by Eldar Murtazin, editor-in-chief of Russian mobile phone blog Mobile-Review, iOS 5 will NOT be compatible with the 3GS The rumor is yet to be confirmed but apparently Murtazin is a pretty reputable source in the world of mobile phones so it sounds like he knows his stuff.

With Apple’s latest iOS 5 reportedly to be previewed at the annual WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC) which begins on June 6, my 3GS’s days could be numbered

Anybody want to buy a white iPhone 3GS? I might have one available come June.

iPhone gains even more US carriers for April 20 launch – iPad/iPhone – Macworld UK

Wednesday appears to be a banner day for regional carriers and the iPhone: this morning, Macworld noted that both Virginia-based nTelos and Alaskan carrier Alaskan Communications would carry the iPhone 4S starting on April 20. now we know that, as reported by MacRumors, they aren’t the only recipients—you can add another Alaskan carrier, one from Kentucky, and one from Wisconsin to the mix. as of Wednesday afternoon, the following three regional carriers were touting the iPhone on their websites.

Alaskan GSM carrier GCI will offer the iPhone 4S (along with the 3GS and 4) on April 20 with plans that start at $60. GCI’s data plans are locked at 3GB, no matter which one you select; the differences lie in calling areas (Alaska or Nationwide) and minutes.

In Kentucky, CDMA carrier Appalachian Wireless will be the regional carrier of record for the iPhone 4S and 4 on the 20th. Its plans start at $70, with higher tiers based on minutes needed; customers have a 5.1 GB of data cap per month regardless of what plan they subscribe to.

According to WSAW, Cellcom is also due to get the iPhone 4S and 4 in Wisconsin for its CDMA network. Monthly plans start at $70, though users will have just 2GB of data a month.

All these carriers are offering the iPhone 4S at a $50 discount compared to their larger bretheren: $150 for the 16GB 4S, $250 for the 32GB, and $350 for the 64GB; the iPhone 4 is just $50, while the 3GS (GSI only) is free.

We’ll continue to update this story with any new regional carrier announcements. and if you know of a carrier that we missed, please let us know in the comments.

Dial91.com Announces Upgraded iPhone App

Dial91.com has upgraded their iPhone app for even clearer voice conversations and the cheapest way to call India or around the world. The App is free at the App Store or the Dial91.com website.

Boca Raton, Florida (PRWEB) April 17, 2012

Amar Behura, Vice President of GlobalTel, announced today that Dial91.com has released a new version of the iPhone app. this is an upgrade to the previous app that was considered one of the most successful telephone apps, as it was the cheapest way to call India and around the world. this app is extremely convenient to use and intuitive in the design.

The new version of the iPhone app is using a new SIP stack to improve the voice quality. it is compatible with iOS 3..x, 4.x and the latest 5.x. The first choice for outgoing calls is automatically using Wi-Fi to save the user any access cost. this greatly reduces the cost to call India or any country in the world. if Wi-Fi is not available then the 3G data network is used as a backup. The app does not consume the customers

Mr. Behura states that the mobile app is the future of calling card industry. The ease of use is amazing. all the contacts on the phone are instantly brought into the app as if the user were using the cell phone application. it also keeps track of all call activity with the number dialed and time of dialing. when using calling cards to India, for example, the user must enter a PIN; but the app requires entering a PIN only once when installing the app.

Another unique feature of the Dial91.com iPhone app is that from the app the user can also send SMS messages. Dial91.com discovered that many of their customers also wanted to SMS India and other countries around the world. Again this is done with tremendous ease and there is no cost to send SMS messages.

The Dial91.com customer can purchase a $30.00 PIN or as low as a $2.00 calling card PIN. The other denominations are $5.00, $10.00 and $20.00. For only $2.00 a customer can try the service and discover the clear voice sound for themselves. when signing into their account on the Dial91.com website the customer can set up automatic recharge.
