The best iphone app for car nuts!

The Apple App Store for iphone and ipod touch users now gets more than 170 apps per day released for sale or for free. Due to the huge competition developers are now facing marketing their apps to the masses they are now starting to make their apps for niche markets in an effort to get away from the multitude of fart application out there.

As a car enthusiast i have always searched for apps that cater for my interests and some that have in the past, have been the dyno type applications that allow me to test the performance of my car in terms of acceleration over the 400m and 0-100klm (0 to 60mph) The one I used was “Pocketdyno” which worked quite well as a rough gauge.

However I’m pleased to announce i found an awesome newly released app for car nuts like me out there.

It’s called vrimz and it basically lets you take a photo of your car “side on” with the iphone’s in built camera (bad luck touch users) and then change the wheels with a seemingly unlimited number of wheels from all the top manufacturers and they even have OEM wheels from the car manufacturers model range.

So lets walk thru the app in more detail.

The first screen shows a big start button (not fart, START a pleasant change)along with the vrimz logo, after clicking start you are presented with a choice of choosing an image from your devices gallery or to take a photo of your car with the in-built camera. The car image is then loaded and two default wheels (which I love by the way) are placed above the car for you to position over your current wheels and tyres. You can then use multi touch pinch gestures to move, zoom and size the wheels to ensure exact placement. Once positioned you click next and are prompted to select a location so the app can display your local wheel stores wheels, or you have the choice of choosing “all wheels”. (as a side note, choosing all wheels takes some time to load. I’m not sure how many there is but I estimate over 500) The app connects to the internet to download the latest wheels. So i recommend downloading your first lot using a Wifi connection. Once downloaded they stored on your phone for later use and each week it seems to update all the wheels and add more. So you will never run out.

Ok on to the main wheel change screen. This screen shows you your car with the overlayed “default” rims and a line of possible rims at the bottom of the screen that you simply tap to put on your car. The wheels Make and Model is also shown along with sizes and prices if you are viewing your local wheel shops offerings. You can slide your finger across to view tonnes of wheels and when you are satisfied with your choice you can click a snapshot button that saves the image to your gallery. The quality of these simulations is awesome, it actually looks real and that the wheels are really on your car. Kudos’s to the developer as they have done a great job. This app keeps me an friends amused for quite a while as there is some horrid wheels in the system along with some nice ones. You will also be surprised at what wheels look good and what looks terrible.

A Look At Flipboard And Newstand On The iPhone 4S

One of the great thing about the new iPhone 4S is that you can access the excellent iTunes App Store. This online marketplace enables you to download from a huge selection of applications. The store currently offers over 500 thousand different titles from the latest games to office based applications for viewing and editing documents. We take a look at Flipboard, one of the latest apps available for this phone and also the excellent Newstand feature.

Flipboard has proved a huge success for the iPad so it was only a matter of time before we saw a version for the iPhone 4S released. Flipboard analyses all the information that is currently being shared with you and presents in an attractive magazine format that makes a refreshing change from the traditional news feeds and menus. The software has been modified to fit the smaller 3.5 inch display that the phone uses. The mobile version also offers a new feature that is not present on the iPad which is the improved cover page. The software analyses which type of content you spend the most time reading and compiles a cover page full of stories likely to be of most interest to you. Flipboard incorporates social networking updates into your magazine which effectively turn the software into a single place where you can keep up with what is happening in the world around you. The application is available for free and is a new and exciting way that could really change how we read material from the internet.

The iPhone 4S features the new Newstand feature which has been introduced as part of the new iOS5 operating system. This new feature enables you to download a variety of newspapers and magazines to your phone and read them at your leisure. Material is accessed via the App Store and you are given the option to purchase individual issues or opt for an annual subscription. If you do choose the subscription option then the issue is automatically downloaded to you handset the moment it is released. Just like the Flipboard app titles on Newstand appear on a well designed main page. When you tap on any individual title that publication loads and you can then simply scroll through the pages by swiping your finger across the screen. What is really impressive about this application is that it can incorporate video and audio files to give you a truly interactive experience.

Thanks to the high quality screen featured on the iPhone 4S excellent applications such as Flipboard and the Newstand not only look superb but offer an informed and entertaining change from traditional apps.

5 Must Have IPhone Apps

An iPhone loaded with the right apps is like an unstoppable machine. You can easily have the world at your fingertips and can do virtually anything you wanted, at anytime. Here are 5 awesome iPhone apps- from the fun to the useful.

Dragon Search One of the most powerful apps out there, Dragon Search offers a variety of handy features. Featuring voice activation (yeah that’s right- you talk to it), you can instantly search and scroll through results on Google, YouTube, Wikipedia, and Twitter. Best of all, it loads quickly- much better than opening up each individual app, or typing them in manually on Safari.

AP Mobile Hosted by the Associated Press (the news organization that most other news organizations like CNN and FOX News rely on), this is the perfect app for any news junkie. Scroll through national, world, and even local news with ease- but the best part is the news alert. Whenever a huge story breaks (something like Osama bin Laden getting captured, or the earthquake in Japan), a message is sent to your phone. Never be out of the news-loop again.

Soundhound Have you ever heard a song on the radio, on TV, or in a store and was curious about who sang it? With a simple click of a button, Soundhound can detect any song and instantly give you the name, artist, lyrics, a sample, and even a link to buy it online! It also stores all detected songs, so you can listen and download later. The perfect app for any music fan, Soundhound can quickly turn into your most used app.

Aroundme Powered by GPS positioning, Aroundme is most useful when in strange locations. All you have to do is open it up, and you can choose between mapping out the nearest restaurant, gas station, movie theater, hotel, taxis, and more! Once you choose a destination, it shows you exactly how to get there. You’ll never get stranded again with the help of Aroundme.

Catpaint Quite possibly one of the weirdest, (and most addicting), apps in the iTunes store, Catpaint is just how it sounds- painting with cats. Either take or upload a picture of your own, and you have a choice between a variety of cats to stick onto it! Rotate them, change their size and, position them so it looks like they are actually in the picture. If that doesn’t sound weird enough, the fact that you can make them shoot lasers out of their eyes should be the tipping point.

"Check out this video "Warren & Fozzie" @Smalltown, USA on Viddy: viddy" – @Viddy

The Muppet Interaction feature is a cool new pack that promotes the release of the new movie. With the Muppets in theatres right now I can see this as being something fun for your kids to play with, as part of the take home experience from using your iPhone.

Viddy has been App of the week with over 50,000 downloads despite being in business for only 6 months. It’s pretty new to the market, but offers cool features to iPhone users. It’s a freemium product that plans to offer premium paid content in the near future. I got to sit down with Evan White and he shared the features, the ability to follow, join a social community, as well as the ability to share to your social network. Viddy is being attached to the release of the iPhone 4S release as a featured social networking app.

Evan White stated that “you can think of Viddy like iMovie meets Twitter.”

Top 5 Free iPhone Apps for Driving

So, planning on driving a long trip and happen to have a iPhone capable of making the trip easier? But don’t want to spend any extra money on “Paid Apps,” and don’t know what app could help you out? Then allow me to present, “Top 5 Apps(Free) for Driving,” a barebone list that has helped me in driving many 8 hour and more trips.

Now before you download the applications and take off down the road, I would advise you prepare for your trip as if you won’t have your phone. Let’s face it, there is no guarantee that your phone will work the whole trip, it may die or bug out. Or another likely case is that you will not have a signal for these apps to work. So that being said, Take a map, and pick places to stop and rest, along with all your normal trip taking procedures before heading out.

#1

Believe it or not, Apple included a Google Maps application that works already on your phone. You don’t even have to take the time and download it, and it works. Easy! It will come in handy if you want to see how many miles you have left before you reach your destination, or getting directions to wherever you decide to go, and to top it off, it works with the other apps automatically. So, you wont have to spend time trying to type all the addresses in.

#2

YPmobile, an amazing application that is a virtual Yellow Book in your pocket, has saved my hide in a few tight situations. This app have a business search engine, and as a added bonus if you have a lot of time to spare, you can search for any local events that may be interesting to you. Once you find your location you would like to go to, just press Get Directions and it opens up Google Maps with the directions right there for you to follow.

#3

WhitePages, you may be wondering why I have listed two apps that have similar attributes, right? Well the reason is simple, having a backup app can save your hide. YPmobile is a nice free app that does what it says, but sometimes the server could be down and leave you stranded. But wait, we have a back up application just in case already. It also allows you to find people, and do a Reverse Phone service, as a added bonus.

#4

Cheap Gas! A cheap application, but a huge money saver. I have stopped at my gas station before and decided, “Hey, I may as well see if I can save a few bucks,” and turned the app on to actually find a better deal sometimes. If you are driving a big truck, or a loaded car/minivan then even a few cents add up to a big savings fast. With that extra cash, maybe you can attend a local event that you saw in YPmobile, or get a few extra helpings when your eating(Being hungry is never good on long trips, you know).

#5 Number Five, was a tough decision. However, when I was thinking back to my past experiences, there was one app that helped me out a few times. If you don’t have a good signal, you may not be able to use the other apps, and thus why you should always have a spare map ready. If you do have a connection that is low and slow, but can give you a little bit of use. WiFi Finder is the app that could again, save your hide. Use this app to find local WiFi spots, so you can link up to wireless Internet and again be able to use your applications.

These are just the top 5 free barebone apps that actually work. They may not be as fancy as you may be looking for, but they can simply get the job done.

Free Iphone Apps to Improve Your Health

Your iPhone is now the most powerful thing in your pocket. Its functions are in the hundreds. The nice thing is you can pick and choose what you will use your iPhone for besides making calls. There are now several different free iPhone apps designed with health in mind.

The first free iPhone app is a calculator. It is called “PointsCalc” and it allows you estimate nutritional value. You have to enter the calories, fiber, and fat of a food and it will tell you its value. The benefit is the ability to figure out nutrition value without accessing the internet. This eliminates the difficult task of constantly looking up your foods nutritional value.

The second free iPhone app is another calculator. The “2Fat” app allows you to estimate body fat and body mass index. You have to input your gender, weight, and waist and it then does the calculation.

An interesting free iPhone is Epocrates Rx. This is an iPhone application that allows you to get information on 300 different types of medication. You can look up the dosing, adverse reactions, pharmacology, and pricing of the different drugs. This helps you eliminate the mystery pill you found. You can even view pictures of the pills to help you further identify the medicine. It is truly useful when trying to avoid dangerous combinations of drugs.

Another free iPhone app for fitness is “Weight Tracker.” This is exactly the title. It allows you to track your weight. It could be the motivation you are looking for just to have tracking in your pocket. It allows you to send this info to a website to help see your progress.

“Restaurant Nutrition” is another free iPhone app with health in mind. Well, maybe it is just here to scare you. You can look up nutritional information about some of your favorite fast good chains. You can then track what you have eaten. You then can send your intake to a website for further tracking.

It is hard to believe that your cell phone could actually help you improve your health. Furthermore, there are several paid applications that act like personal trainers teaching activities like running and hiking. Maybe you are just starting your health journey and these free iPhone apps might be the way to go.

How To Use Itunes To Make Cool And Free Ringtone For Iphone

iPhone is more and more popular, if you are iPhone user and you are board with iPhones build-in ringtone, this step by step guide will help you a lot. It will show you how to use iTunes to make free and cool personal ringtone for your iPhone, even you are new iPhone user can manage it. This guide works for all series of iPhone including iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPhone original. Step1. Right-click on the song in iTunes and select “Get Info” from the pop-up menu. Choose the Options tab and change the Stop Time to 0:30 for 30 seconds of play time. This won’t change or damage the actual file; it just tells iTunes to only play the first 30 seconds of the song (plenty of time for you to answer your phone). You can change this setting back to full length after you create your ring tone. Step2. Configure the MP3 Encoder built into iTunes to use 22khz and mono encoding (the format used by iPhone or cell phone ring tones).Click the Preferences menu and then choose the Advanced tab. Click “Importing” and then choose “MP3 Encoder” from the Import Using drop down. Choose “Custom…” from the Settings dropdown, which will display an “MP3 Encoder” dialog like the one shown below. Step3. Convert the song to ringtone MP3 format by right-clicking it in iTunes and selecting “Convert Selection to MP3” from the popup menu. iTunes will make a copy of the song and you’ll see that the time will change to 30 seconds. Send the ringtone to your phone using a usb data cable or Bluetooth. If you want to convert video to mp3 to make ringtone on Mac, this video to mp3 converter will help you a lot. NOTE: Do not select “Create Ringtone”, as this option will charge your account, and also only works with songs you have purchased through the iTunes store. Step4. You’ll need to download software to transfer your new ringtone to your phone via Bluetooth or a USB data cable, something phone manufactures don’t include with their phones. If you’re using a USB data cable, then I recommend DataPilot – it works with all major phone types and lets you transfer ring tones, photos, videos, contacts, etc. If you’re using Bluetooth to transfer your ring tones, then Ringtone Media Studio is worth looking at. It lets you transfer ring tones to your cell phone using a bluetooth connection AND automatically creates ring tones from your favorite CDs and MP3s, without all the manual steps required by iTunes. Step5. Now that the ringtone is on your iPhone, you can set it as your iPhone default ringtone. With the tricks described in this article you can make iTunes create free ringtones for you, or you can use Ringtone Media Studio to make it even easier to create free ringtones out of your favorite music.

iPhone 5

Apple mobile phones are trackers of how the mobile market behaves and of how they are used. The new iPhone, even if it is not the revolution it was thought to be, gives valuable insights on the state of the field.

Changes

What is new exactly? First the look, glass was abandoned in favor of aluminum. Then the speed, the new A6 chip makes it twice as fast as the previous iPhone. A new connector standard also appears. But of all the changes it is the screen which catches most attention. It increased from 3.5 to 4 inches. The increase in screen size is directly linked to the rise of the use of mobiles in our life. It results in a will to have a more comfortable experience when using mobile devices. A bigger screen brings a better experience for long use. Telephones and tablets are a new marker and create new ways of consuming and accessing information.

Consequences

Firstly, there is a quick increase in the use of mobile devises for finding information on the Internet. Mobile phones, tablets now benefit from much quicker Internet connection than before with the development of LTE/4G. They are always ready to be used and one can almost instantly look for information through them. Their screens which get bigger and bigger and offer better definition allow showing more and more information at once. Moreover, the new cloud possibilities allow a user to synchronize it browsing experience from a Mac to an iPhone or an iPad really pushing forward the use of mobile devices.

Secondly, social networks are more and more used to share information. A constant connection to twitter and now Facebook makes it easier than ever before to share a trip picture, the photograph of a meal, a new product bought, etc. Social network become the center of much activity and influence purchasing decisions. They can be very beneficial to firms but also hurt their reputation quickly. A social network watch therefore becomes necessary for some firms.

Third is the steady increase of geolocalisation services. As more and more smartphone with GPS appear the services allowing for geolocalisation develop meaning one can now send location along with message or pictures. It makes it easy to find the restaurant where your friends enjoyed such a great meal or the resort or hotel where they had their best experience. Geolocalisation related services become strong marketing tools for targeting local customers for local businesses. They become more and more efficient as more people start using smartphones and tablets.

Once again the iPhone 5 is not a revolution. It though affirms again that we entered the era characterized by constant connection and holds many opportunities.
