Top 5 Best Racing Games For the iPhone

If you want the best racing games, the iPhone is where it’s at. The iPhone’s 3G technology and accelerometer make for the best iPhone apps out there. Driving has never been so simple. Most games allow you to whip around the tracks with either touch screen or the accelerometer. Turn your iPhone from left or right, tip down, or up to go forward and most games do not require you to press a button for the gas. Let’s look at the top 5 best iPhone apps.

5. Asphalt 4– Use the accelerometer for easy steering as you zip through the streets of Los Angeles, New York, or Shanghai in anything from a Bugatti Veryon to a Mini Cooper. Take out your opponents with a swift bump in the rear, or side swipe. You’ll see the take down mechanic return in this fast paced race that you loved from other Asphalt series. You can even race against your friends with the wi-fi multiplayer feature. This cutting edge game even allows you to drift, making this one of the best iPhone apps out there.

4. Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D– Practically every gamer is aware of what Crash Bandicoot is. This low-speed cart race has lots of cute cartoon weapons that help you navigate your way around the track three times as you try to keep your number one spot. Just a tip of the screen and you can accelerate easily. Drop missiles on your opponents, blow them from here to kingdom come with TNT, or oil up the track and watch them slip and slide. Collect letters to spell out CRASH and you can unlock more levels and characters.

3. Cro-Mag Rally– You’ll find this game is very similar to Crash and the Mario Kart series, which probably explains why players love it so. However, you’ll find much more detailed tracks, great frame rate, and smoother colors. The game contains at least nine levels, taking you from ancient Viking scenery to underwater Atlantis. You’ll even come to love the ever so ugly cave men.

2. GTS world racing– Move over Asphalt, this game has 64 different tracks, 16 different world settings and four levels of difficulty. Another great feature of this app is that it allows you to listen to adrenaline rushed sound tracks or create your own with music from your iPod. The down side is that you only get 3 choices of cars to choose from. But who really cares when your art work changes so often.

1. Fastlane Street Racing– By far apple enthusiasts rate Fastlane as the best looking, and best playing game in the iPhone app store. It combines what’s best from Asphalt and GTS World Racing and puts it into one game. It allows the user to do everything both games do and more. Fastlane has the best graphics, eight punishing city routes, two high speed tracks, six challenge tracks to make your hairs stand on end, and five different game modes. View your games with the save and replay mode. It’s a game that really does require skill, and if you have not mastered the art of drifting in any of the other games listed above, you won’t find Fastlane easy to maneuver. Gamers say it has a very realistic feel making it one of the best iPhone apps available in the Apple App Store.

iPhone Still Leading The Market

A recent survey shows more than half of consumers will be buying a new iPhone in the next 90 days. ChangeWave Research’s December 2011 survey of 4,000 consumers in the US and Canada found that 54% of consumers looking for a new Smartphone would be purchasing an iPhone, either the iPhone 4S or the yet to be released iPhone 5.

“Apple has never dominated Smartphone planned buying to this extent more than two months after a major new release,” ChangeWave Research said.

Samsung also had a good showing in the survey. 13% of those surveyed are planning to buy a Samsung Smartphone in the next 90 days. According to an article posted by Trevor Mogg, Digital Trends, “This represents nearly a tripling of consumer interest in Samsung phones just since fall 2011. The recently released Galaxy Nexus-the first Smartphone in the US to run the latest Android 4.0 OS, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich-is reported to be of much interest among the 13 percent.”

There’s bad news for BlackBerry. Only 2% of those surveyed said they would be buying a new BlackBerry. And just as bad for the company, only 22 percent of BlackBerry current users said they were “very satisfied.” The recent outages BlackBerry suffered probably have something to do with that… It doesn’t bode well for BlackBerry, which many analysts predict is going to go bankrupt soon. It’s hard to say. RIM BlackBerry just released 3 new Smartphones, but with only 2% wanting to purchase them, it’s hard to get excited about it.

Which Smartphone is your personal preference? Are you an Android loyalist or are you considering a new iPhone? One of the downsides to the iPhone 4S has been the poor battery life. Perhaps the iPhone 5 will address this issue. Meanwhile you can get a cool iPhone 4S Rechargeable Battery Charging Case which lets you have a “spare battery” right in the iPhone case so you are never caught with your charge down. And of course almost all of the new Android Smartphones have replaceable batteries. I have the Motorola Droid X with a Droid X Extended Battery which gives me lots more battery life than the original standard battery that came with the phone. So, iPhone or Android? Which OS appeals to you?

How to Delete Apps from Your iPhone

Are you wondering how to delete apps from iPhone? Perhaps you loaded up your iPhone with apps from the App Store when you first got it, and now you’ve decided you only want to keep the ones you use. It happens to the best of us, and with so many options, it’s easy to do.

(If you’re interested, read Jan Manon’s article 100,000 Apps and Counting for more on this phenomenon.)

But for now, let’s just get you on your way to deleting your apps from iPhone. Follow these steps.

How to delete iPhone apps completely

On the iPhone screen, find the application that you would like to delete from your iPhone.

Touch and hold down on the application icon for a few seconds. The screen should start to wiggle and an “X” will appear on the upper left corner of each application icon you’ve installed. Touch the “X” of the app you want to delete.

When prompted to confirm, select “Delete.” This message will also alert you that deleting the application will also delete its data. Congratulations! The app should now be gone from your iPhone.

Which iPhone apps you can and cannot delete

You may notice that some apps won’t have an “X” on them, including Notes, Safari, Stocks, Maps, and others. These are preloaded iPhone apps that came installed on your phone—and they cannot be deleted. More details on these apps are available from the Apple iPhone Features page.

If you do not want to use these apps regularly, you can move them to their own page. To do so, click and hold down on their icons, much like you did above, and when they start to wiggle you can drag them off the page until the screen flips to a new page. When the icon is where you want it, simply let up. To stop the wiggling, click the homepage button on your iPhone.

Delete the iPhone app from iTunes

If the application you’ve just deleted is also in your iTunes Applications, you will need to delete it from there, otherwise it will reinstall on your phone the next time you sync between iTunes and iPhone. The iTunes library lets you manage your Apps much like you manage your music. In your Library menu in iTunes, you can select Apps and then view all your apps. To delete them, select the ones you want to delete and click the “delete” key on your keyboard. iTunes will prompt you to confirm; select “Remove.”

Another option is to keep the app in iTunes, but change the settings so that applications do not automatically sync. To manage these settings, connect your iPhone to your computer. When the iPhone icon appears in iTunes, access the Apps tab to manage your apps and configure your sync preferences.

If you really want to start over, you can learn How to Restore an iPhone to Factory Settings – but be absolutely sure you want to wipe your device before you do so.

iPhone 5 – What We Can Expect?

The iPhone 5 release date is a topic which is widely debated and nobody knows for sure when it will be released. What is known for sure is that the iPhone 5 will have loads of new innovations and cool upgrades which will have us drooling.

Expected Features Of The iPhone 5

The first noticeable feature the iPhone 5 is expected to have is the iOS 5. This OS was unveiled at Apple’s exhibition in June and it has hundreds of new apps and motion gesture input methods. The iOS 5 is far ahead of any competing OS brands in the market today. The iCloud feature is also expected to be present and to be used in full flow. Via iCloud you can wirelessly access photos, calendars, documents, files, etc. The iPhone 5 will automatically be able to sync with the iCloud service and update your files. The iPhone 5 is also expected to run on the Apple A5 chip with a 1.5 GHz processor. The A5 has a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with NEON SIMD accelerator and a dual core PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU. This means that the iPhone 5 will be twice as fast as the previous model and this means that your net browsing, multi tasking, etc. will all become a surreal experience. The camera is also supposed to be an upgraded one with rumors that you can shoot 3D videos using the iPhone 5. The Panorama or 360 degree picture feature is expected to be present in the iPhone 5 along with the capacity to record videos in 1080p HD. The display screen size is also expected to increase to around 3.75 inches. Some say that it might even become 4 inches. You will also get 4G services with the iPhone 5 and it will be LTE network compatible. The other new feature to be introduced is the simless nature of the phone. It is expected to be a world phone which requires no Sim card. This phone will have GSM and CDMA capabilities and is expected to be a revolutionary model. Besides all the above features the classic features of the iPhone will remain. The capacitive touch screen with multi touch interface and scratch resistant OLED TFT display, HD audio, newer multi tasking look and an increased RAM are some of the other new features.

iPhone 5 Release Date

With the release of the iPhone 4S the expected date of the iPhone 5 has been pushed back and it is expected to be released in early September of 2012. The iPhone 5 release date is not known for sure by anyone.

The Apple iPhone 5 on Track to Record Sales

NEW YORK – The U.S. computer group Apple Monday announced record orders of more than two million copies in 24 hours for the new iPhone 5, confirming the huge demand generated by its popular phone.

“Customer response to the iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” on Monday welcomed the chief Apple marketing, Philip Schiller.

The phone will be in stores from September 21 in 9 countries, including the United States and France, but it can be pre-ordered since Friday.

With over 2 million orders on the first day, the iPhone beats the record of one million units recorded at the launch of the previous model, the iPhone 4S.

Apple had to extend its delivery. “The demand has exceeded the initial offer, and if the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to customers on September 21, many will not be delivered until October,” he warned.

It thus confirmed that visitors to its online shops were found on Friday: delivery times have gone from one week to two or three weeks.

“Apple was forced to delay its delivery just an hour after launch” commands against at least 20 hours for the two previous models, are Trefis analysts, seeing “an indication of the enormous pent-up demand that has evolved over the last few months, people pushing their purchase of an iPhone in anticipation of the new. “

Apple also opted for the pace of launching “the fastest in the history of the iPhone,” said Ben Reitzes with Barclays.

After nine countries Friday (United States, Canada, France, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore), the list will be expanded to 20 more countries next week, and will have a hundred other by the end of the year.

Several experts have predicted that the iPhone 5 would be the biggest product launch technology the season, assuming 10 million copies sold in the first day, and 50 million by the end of December.

These hopes have benefited greatly in Apple’s stock, which had closed Friday at a new record high of 691.28 dollars, and continued its momentum by winning Monday 1.09% to 698.82 dollars around 5:40 p.m. GMT.

Other companies are also trying to recover some of the attention generated by the group at the apple.

On Fifth Avenue in New York, a handful of people were already waiting for Monday to be the first to go into the Apple Store a few meters away when the iPhone will be Friday rays.

The first in line, a man calling itself Sagitarius Catharsis, settled last week with a chair, a small table, a blanket and a sign to promote an application of “cat” called Vibe. He says he already waited several days “for films, Star Wars or Spiderman”, but is not even sure this time to really buy an iPhone 5.

“We’ve waited 18 days for the iPhone 4S last year,” said Thompson also Keenen, 22, came with a friend. He describes himself as “a fan of Apple,” but became the sponsor Gazelle company specializing in the purchase of used computers and phones, which provided orange chairs and sleeping bags to match.

“We wanted to be the first here. This is a good way to advertise,” also recognizes Joshua Chinchilla, 23 years. He works for the company Refundo, which develops applications for payment by mobile phone. She has provided T-Shirts and sweaters for the night. “And tomorrow there will be a storm, maybe we will also have umbrellas,” he said.

8 iPhone Apps Every International Traveler Should Have

I am currently enjoying some extended travel throughout Asia, and have been calling Northern Thailand my home for almost a year now. During my travels, I have been adding, removing and tinkering with various iPhone apps that are useful to me while I am abroad.

Here is my list of the top eight iPhone apps that I use regularly while traveling internationally.

1. Medscape: The Medscape prescription database app has been incredibly useful for me while traveling in countries where I have been prescribed medications. On one occasion, I was prescribed medication by a physician that did not speak English. To make certain I was taking medication that was correct and did not cause any harmful effects, I fired up the Medscape app and found information about the medication such as its uses, side effects and recommended dosage.

2. Dragon Dictation: I really enjoy blogging about my travels but oftentimes find myself without a laptop to write on. Instead of using the iPhone’s cramped keyboard, I use dragon dictation to blog. The software works remarkably well and it makes very few mistakes if English is your native language.

3. Kindle for iPhone: Finding English language books in Northern Thailand is almost impossible. I use the Kindle iPhone app to download books, magazines and other publications. It might cost more than buying a paperback in a bookstore but when the nearest bookstore is miles away, it’s a wonderful resource.

4. iTranslate: I have tried several paid and free translation apps and I found myself coming back to iTranslate because it has such a simple user interface. It’s great to use when you really need something in an area where no one can speak English.

Apple iPhone Battery App Reviews

A look at some of the best battery monitoring apps for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

iPhone Battery Life

A good battery monitoring app will help take some of the mystery out of how much juice you have left in your iPhone or iPod Touch. These iPhone battery apps will give you a pretty accurate estimation of how much time you have left to play games, watch movies, and so on. Because certain applications use more battery power than others, it’s good to know how much time you need between recharges. Here you’ll find an iPhone battery app review for each of the apps I think are best.

Battery LED

My favorite iPhone battery app is called Battery LED. It is available in both free and pro (99 cents) versions, with the only real difference being that the Pro version doesn’t have small banner ads running across the bottom of the screen. This app has a very colorful interface that will not only show you how much total battery power you have left, but will also show how much power you have to do individual tasks like gaming, browsing the internet, and so on. I have read some reviews where people with third generation iPods said the battery readings were inaccurate, but I can’t verify that. This battery app works with iPad, too!

Battpowr

Battpowr is another solid iPhone battery app that is also available in free and pro versions. The pro version sells for $1.99 and offers some extra features like wallpaper support, charge alarms, and more. For basic battery monitoring, the free version will suit you just fine. If you have an iPad, there’s also a special version called Battpowr HD that features an enhanced interface for the bigger screen. While the free version has a pretty basic looking interface, that may be all some people want. It’s worth checking out.

Battery Magic

Another very popular iPhone battery monitoring app is Battery Magic. Like the others, it also comes in free and pro versions. The interface for this one is a little different in that you get a slot machine like scroll wheel to sort through the amount of time you have left to use certain functions of your iPhone or iPod Touch. It offers a few extra features in terms of customization, but if all you want is the functionality then the free version is great. Battery Magic Pro ($1.99) offers a lot of extras to make your iPhone or iPod Touch look cool while it recharges.

Battery Free

Battery Free is another great iPhone battery monitoring app and as the name implies, it’s free. This app features a very clean interface that’s easy on the eyes and simple to use. It’s one of the most popular battery monitors on iTunes with over 27,000 ratings and should definitely be considered since it is free and is regarded as being very accurate.

Extending iPhone Battery Life

Your iPhone and iPod Touch use an internal lithium ion battery, and if you treat it properly you can get a pretty long life out of your battery. Never let the device run completely out of power before you recharge it, and try to avoid leaving it plugged in for too long. Your battery has a limited number of charge cycles before performance starts to degrade, so you’ll get more out of it if you go easy. Definitely avoid leaving it in hot cars during the summer, as this will break down the battery cells even faster. For more information, check out this great article on how to best maintain your iPhone’s battery life.
