Sprint’s iPhone 4 will only be available online starting Friday

Following its announcement of the iPhone 5, Apple (AAPL) revealed that the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 will continue to be available at discounted prices. The iPhone 4S will be available for $99 with a new two-year agreement and the iPhone 4 will be offered for free on-contract, replacing the iPhone 3GS. 9To5Mac on Monday published a leaked Sprint (S) document suggesting that the carrier might discontinue the iPhone 4 following the launch of Apple’s new iPhone 5, but BGR has learned that this is not the case. A Sprint spokesperson confirmed via email that while Sprint will stop selling the iPhone 4 in its retail stores beginning this Friday, the carrier will continue to offer the iPhone 4 online through its website.Related stories Sprint CEO defends company’s decision to bet it all on Apple’s iPhone iPhone 4S best-selling phone at three top U.S. carriers in November, Samsung sales strong iPhone 4S now No.1 smartphone at top-3 U.S. carriers, iPhone 4 still hot

iPhone 5’s Speculated Specs!

So we now know that Apple will officially announce the new iPhone 5 and probably even the rumored low-cost iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011. A number of analyst have bravely predicted their what the iPhone 5 will have and have not. But you read all of their statement and prediction they all share the same sentiments like; aluminum unibody construction, better camera, a slightly larger screen size and a better GPU, some make sense and some do not.

Cnet have listed a number of expected upgrades based on these so called analysis, as quoted from Cnet.

  • More memory: Possibly 1GB of memory, twice the amount in the iPhone 4.
  • Higher-resolution camera: likely 8-megapixel versus current 5MP.
  • Near-Field Communication (NFC): for virtual wallets. Possible but not certain.
  • Voice control: speculation says new tech will allow voice navigation.
  • Improved graphics: similar to Imagination’s PowerVR SGX543 graphics silicon used in the iPad 2.
  • Dual-core Apple A5 chip: a virtual certainty that the iPhone 5 will get a boost in chip performance.
  • iOS 5: new iOS with iMessage, tabbed browsing and lots more.
  • 3G: Qualcomm chipset that will allow connection to both CDMA and GSM networks.

Those are realistic prediction and yes, I also expect these to appear on the new iPhone 5. Though I have to disagree on a number of specs like the larger screen, I won’t be surprise if the new iPhone 5 will have an upgraded front-facing camera, thinner body, multi-color body (remember the multi-colored ipod) and additional capacity (16GB, 32GB and 64 GB flash drive).

Even the most educated analyst these are all educated guess, so in the end we still need to wait for Apple’s official statement regarding the new iPhone 5 and that’s just a few winks away.

How to Find a Lost Apple iPod Touch, Apple iPhone, or Apple iPad

When you lose an iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad, you lose more than just your device. You lose all the unsynced data on your device, such as notes, contacts, and emails. You can minimize the impact of losing your iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad by taking steps to make it easier to find your Apple device before you lose it.

If you have already lost your iPod Touch, iPad, or iPhone, there are some steps you can take to figure out where it is, especially if you start looking for it before the battery dies.

Sync and Install Find My iPhone

If you sync your iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad on a regular basis, you will be less concerned about missing data and be able to concentrate on finding it, so get in the habit of syncing with iTunes on your computer.

When you update your software to iOS 4.2 on an iPhone 4, 4th generation iPod Touch, or iPad, you will have access to Apple’s Find My iPhone app for free. If you have an earlier generation if iPod Touch or iPhone, you can subscribe to Find My iPhone through Mobile Me for an annual fee.

After you have finished installing the iOS 4 update for your iPod, iPhone or iPad, go to the App store and download Find My iPhone for free from Apple. It does not matter if you are using an iPod or an iPad; the app is called Find My iPhone for every device. After you install Find My iPhone, you have to go into “settings” on your device and create a Mobile Me account, using the email and password that you use to shop at iTunes.

Once you install Find My iPhone you can track your iPod, iPhone, and iPad by logging into me.com on your computer or my using another Apple device with Find My iPhone installed. Even if you do not subscribe to the Find My iPhone program, you can install the app and track a new iPad or 4th generation iPod and iPhone 4.

When you look for your iPad on Find My iPhone, you will see where your device is within an area. It might look like your iPad is in the front yard when it is really in the kitchen, but you can see general locations. You could see if your iPad was on a school campus, at your house, or at a restaurant. You can use Find My iPhone to make your iPad or iPod make a noise, send a message to the screen so if someone finds it they can call you, lock the device, or erase the data from me.com.

How to Find a Lost iPod, iPhone, or iPad

If you are looking for your favorite Apple gadget and you do not have Find My iPhone installed, do not be disheartened. First, you should see if the iPod is in your house. You can call an iPhone, but with other devices you might need to resort to looking at what computers are connect to your home wireless network.

You will need the information that the administrator uses to log in to the home wireless network, but then you can log into the gateway for your wireless network and see if your iPod, iPhone, or iPad shows up as a device connected to the wifi network. Your device will have the same name that it uses when it syncs with iTunes.

Just because you do not see your device on the network list, do not give up hope. If you do not see your device, it means that it is not connecting to the network. It could be that the battery is drained, that there is not network connections in the basement where your iPad is, or it is out of range by being in the car, backyard.

If you are sure your iPod is missing and you can not see it on a network, you can try posting a plea for help in the iLounge Lost iPod, iPhone, and iPad message board. People post devices they have found, so maybe yours will be there. You can start sending emails to trigger the sound of a new message, and maybe someone will hear that and find your iPod or iPad, and hopefully you will hear the small sound in your car or gym bag and it will turn out that your iPod was just hiding and not really lost.

Once you get your iPod, iPhone, or iPad back, take some steps to make sure that it would be easy to return if lost. You can install Find My iPhone, and you can set a daily alarm to go off at a high volume so that if you lose your iPhone again, you can start listening for it when the alarm goes off. You can write your name and phone number with a sharpie on your iPod and on the case, and someone will be able to contact you to return it.

Family and Friend Locator App Moby Releases in Android

As of today, users of mobile devices running the popular Android operating system can keep tabs on loved ones by taking advantage of Moby, a free yet powerful family and friend location-finder app.

Moby is not your typical location-based check-in app, where you tell the world where you are, and what you’re up to. Creator Contigo developed Moby to be a private, secure, real-time location alert system. Whenever you start up Moby on your phone, the app continues to run in the background for a time period you choose, passively alerting desired contacts in the network as to your location.

Moby has a storied history with Contigo, a company that has developed software for enterprise-level GPS systems for almost a decade. "We’ve always wanted to create a family locating system, but the technology just was not in place at the time," said Rob Goehring, Contigo co-founder. "With the rise of smart phones, we thought we could get back to our origins. This makes sense, because everyone is getting a smart phone, even kids as young as 7 or 8 years old."

With the announcement of a free iPhone 3GS offer from Apple following its iPhone 4S release, Goehring’s statement will likely be especially true, with both free Android devices and iPhones beginning to flood the market as consumers renew their mobile contracts.

Originally released for the iPhone and Blackberry operating system platforms, as of today millions of proud Android users can download Moby from the Android Store and keep track of those they love the most.

Going on a family trip to Disneyland anytime soon? After turning on Moby, your 12-year-old daughter’s mobile phone can alert you to the fact that she is in line at Space Mountain (again.) Letting your 15-year-old son go to the drive-in theater (do those still exist?) Moby will help you find out if he’s sticking to his promise to come straight home after the movie. If you want to meet up with an old friend for lunch, Moby lets you privately request a location check-in, so the two of you can catch up on your lives.

Big Game Logic Launches Hunting App with Satellite and Heat Map Deer Herd Tracking

Janesville, WI (PRWEB) October 13, 2012

Creators of the BigGameLogic.com deer hunting website have released an iPhone application that allows hunters to create virtual deer hunting camps that mirror hunting areas, track active and historical sitings, view deer herd activity via heat maps, and more. The app uses automated geolocation, weather, and moon phase data stamping to seamlessly integrate with Big Game Logic’s online scouting and social sharing website released in 2011.

The Big Game Logic app from BigGameLogic.com allows hunters to:

  • Create hunting camps detailing hunting areas. Camp mapping can be shared with fellow hunters or kept private.
  • Designate locations for hunting stands and blinds, food plots, scouting cameras, and other deer sign, such as rubs and scrapes, water sources, and bedding areas.
  • Create photo albums of deer camera images, designated by the camera location.
  • Track active and historical deer sightings, categorize sightings into phases of the rut, and attach weather and lunar tables.
  • Track trophies and, once harvested, illustrate the history of the hunt specific to that deer.
  • View deer activity heat mapping in hunting areas to better understand the movement of the herd or a specific deer.
  • Connect via social media with other hunters to share the hunt.

BigGameLogic.com and the BigGameLogic app extract the geolocation and time stamp from photos and automatically tie weather and moon phase data to the image. The app works jointly with the BigGameLogic.com website, offering on-location, mobile access to user scouting and other deer hunt management data in real-time.

iPhone 5 and iPad mini are both set to launch in September

A surplus of Apple (AAPL) rumors is always expected ahead of the company’s earnings reports, and the faucet is wide open on Tuesday. Apple is planning to release a smaller version of its wildly popular iPad tablet shortly after the next-generation iPhone launches this fall, one industry watcher believes. Plugged-in KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who purportedly shed some light on “iPhone 5″ specs recently, says that Apple’s next iPhone will launch in September followed closely by the release of the much-rumored “iPad mini.”

“IPhone 5 to debut in September,” Ming-Chi wrote in a note to clients on Tuesday. “But due to in-cell touch panel and casing yield rate limits, ability to offset older models’ shipments decrease will be moderate.”

The analyst continued, “Though shipments of iPad mini’s components will start in August, the new iPad line will end production, ready for transition to a modified New iPad line. As such, component shipments will drop in August as iPad mini’s components shipments growth will be offset.”

Ming-Chi’s not that a tweaked version of Apple’s current third-generation iPad will be released around the same time mirrors earlier reports, which claimed Apple is planning some internal redesigns that address heat issues and reduce Apple’s costs.

According to earlier reports, the iPad mini will be as thin as an iPod touch and will feature a 7.85-inch display and a price ranging from $249 to $299. The redesigned sixth-generation iPhone is expected to feature a 4-inch display, 4G LTE, NFC, and a redesigned case that was recently examined on video.

iPhone 5, is that you? We’ve seen plenty of leaked pics of different parts of what’s purported to be the next iPhone, but Lab Factory seems to have uncovered the most complete spy shots yet of the upcoming handset from Apple, whatever it might eventually be called.

Since Lab Factory is a repair shop, it could be privy to some of the early prototypes of the next iPhone. But would Apple allow its precious prototypes in the hands of those untrustworthy enough to publish a large set of photos of it? If these shots are real, somebody’s in trouble.

[More from Mashable: Apple Considered Investing in Twitter [REPORT]]

These aren’t proven to be pics of the next iPhone, but given the boatload of rumors we’ve heard about a smaller connector, wider 16×9 screen with a longer/larger form factor and a metal back, this gallery of sneak peeks certainly falls in line.

What do you think? Are these pictures showing the real thing?
