Abvio Brings Automatic Stop Detection and Calendar Sharing to iPhone Fitness Apps Runmeter, Cyclemeter & Walkmeter

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 7, 2010

iPhone fitness application developer Abvio LLC announced that version 4.1 of Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter is now available on iTunes, with major new feature additions that customers have frequently requested: Automatic Stop Detection and Calendar Sharing.

Automatic Stop Detection senses when movement stops and attributes time automatically to stopped time, so elapsed time and other statistics are measured only when you are moving. Elapsed time will continue to increase until the stop is detected, and then will roll back to when the stop started.

Calendar Sharing was added to make it easier for users to share workouts with friends, family, coaches and personal trainers. This new feature synchronizes workouts to the iPhone Calendar when a workout is completed or edited. The iPhone Calendar may be shared with iCal or Outlook, and with external calendars, such as Google Calendar or Microsoft Exchange. Personal trainers will appreciate the ability to use a shared calendar to assign specific workouts, and in that same calendar, see how much was accomplished.

Calendar sharing takes advantage of a recent Apple innovation in iOS 4 called Event Kit. Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter have leveraged iOS 4’s multitasking capabilities since IOS 4 was released in June.

“We get creative feature requests from customers on a daily basis but none was more frequently requested than Automatic Stop Detection,” said Kevin Wallace, co-founder of Abvio. “This feature brings more accuracy and convenience to our iPhone fitness apps and sets the bar higher for our competitors. Our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers, and to fitness, has never wavered, and both the Calendar Sharing and Automatic Stop Detection features are indicative of our dedication to innovation in mobile fitness.”

Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter are the first iPhone apps to incorporate text-to-speech technology so users can hear replies to their workout-related status updates from their Twitter and Facebook communities. Spoken replies from friends, family, and coaches encourage and motivate users to go farther, faster and be healthier.

Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter 4.1 are entirely iPhone-centric, require no web site login or monthly subscription and are completely ad-free. All three apps are available now on the Apple iTunes App Store (iTunes link for $4.99 (US). Unlocked iPhone 5 with Bugs or the New iPhone 5S?

Its been 2 months of iPhone 5 release and US market is still waiting for the unlocked version of iPhone 5 to be launched in a market but Apple is moving forward in the development of its successor, iPhone 5S. Before the launch of unlocked version, rumors states that unlocked version of iPhone will not support LTE and many other core functionality which user can’t expect which has been released with the prebuilt carrier.

Users can order unlocked iPhone 5 on the official Apple Store website. According to the website it will be delivered to the users within 2 to 3 weeks and they have also pointed out drawbacks of unlocked version. The very first drawback which has been stated in their website – "An unlocked iPhone 5 may not support LTE networks in all other countries; contact service providers for details."

According to the reports, CMA Megacorp, a UK-based game developer company, has found a bug on the touchscreen display that causes the digitizer to refuse recognizing touch input when user try to scroll diagonally. Not only this game organization, but many end user will be having an issue with various apps as all the apps are not meant specifically for that screen size. Apple is still unknown about this issue as they pretend to be the firmware glitch or some hardware issue. Apple has designed the iPhone 5 in such a way that it will support all the application which runs perfectly on on iPhone 4S.

In-spite of these issues apple is ready to ship their unlocked version of iPhone 5 within 2 weeks. Many users prefer jailbreaking their devices for faster access to unlocked iPhone 5. Many online ventures are providing iPhone unlock services and they are found to be cheaper than the unlocked iPhone 5 which costs around $699.

According to the official website "The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a wireless contract commitment. You can activate and use iPhone on the supported GSM wireless network of your choice. The unlocked iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 will not work with CDMA-based carriers. An unlocked iPhone 5 may not support LTE networks in all other countries; contact service providers for details."

According to DigiTimes, Apple is set to start trial production of the iPhone 5S this coming December in which production volume is expected to reach around 50,000 to 100,000 units. The news is still under rumor and which can’t be predicted until it’s officially announced by Apple.

The iPhone 4S – A Look At The James May Science Stories App

A brand new application has launched for the iPhone 4S that gives users a guided tour of certain exhibits from the Science Museum in London. The new James May Science Stories application is now available from the iTunes App store for just £1.99. We take a look at what this exciting new software has to offer.

This new application for the iPhone 4S is not only endorsed by James May, presenter of the popular television series Top Gear, but it also features his voice and body within the application. This new software makes clever use of augmented reality so that the presenter appears on screen when you visit the museum and walk around the exhibits. The application provides a running narration on the exhibit that you are viewing. Even if you do not have time to visit the museum in London you can still take a virtual tour with the application. One of the most impressive aspect of this app is how well it blends content on the phone with what you can see at the museum. As you walk around chosen exhibits you view James May’s on screen character from different angles. At certain points the character that you see on the phones display actually casts a real shadow on the item you are viewing which helps to merge virtual reality and physical reality.

At this moment in time there are nine exhibits which work with the James May Science Stories app for the iPhone 4S. The developers of the software have also promised that future updates will see more exhibits added. During the launch of this software James Made a very interesting point that this application could give us a glimpse into how we may view video content that is broadcast in the future. Despite only providing actual voice narration the application does a wonderful job of making the user believe that he is actually in the room with them. Not only does the software look very impressive but it is also very easy to use. When visiting the museum the exhibits that are supported by the app are listed on the phones screen. Select the exhibit you are currently viewing and point the phone at the special marker which is located on top of a plinth. James May then appears on top of this plinth on the phones display to guide you through the most important aspects of the item that you are interested in.

This new application for the iPhone 4S is one of the best examples of smartphone augmented reality software. Not only is Science Stories very easy to use but it delivers a host of useful information in an innovative and fun manner.

Music Apps for iPhone

There are thousands of apps in the Apple app store. And the number of music apps is also very big. So it was very difficult to fit the best ones in one article. It was a lot of work but it was worth it. Here I have listed some of the best music apps for iPhone. Rather it is a list of Apple iPhone apps which I think are the best. However, this list will at least give you some idea as to what kind of apps are available in the App store. There are also many third party apps for the iPhone but in this article I have focused only on the ones available in the app store. So, here goes!

Pandora

Pandora radio is your own personalized radio service. This iPhone app is based on the Pandora web based service. You can set customized radio stations using this app just like in the web application. You can also bookmark and share this station with your friends. It is a great way of finding new artists, songs, albums etc. And to top it all, it is completely free.

Bloom

This is one of the best offbeat iPhone apps. This app lets you make your own music patterns and loops with just a single touch. Moreover, you don’t need exceptional creativity to create music with this cool app because it creates these patterns on its own. It is available for the iPod as well as the iPhone. What I liked the most about this app is the user interface. It is beautiful and creative.

Shazam

Here is another very innovative iPhone app. With this app you can easily recognize the name and other details about a song by just holding out your phone in front of the source where the song is being played. It also lets you buy that song and share it with your friends on Facebook, twitter etc. And this awesome app is totally free for download from the Apple app store.

Cleartune

I cannot think of any other iPhone app that is as useful as Cleartune. This small app lets you tune any of your music instruments using your iPhone. The interface lets you select the proper note for which you want to tune your app. But your iPhone needs an external mic for this app to work.

PocketGuitar

This app transforms your iPhone into a guitar that you can play like a normal guitar. You can even choose what kind of a guitar you want to play. You have a wide range of options like bass guitar, electric guitar etc. And it costs you just $0.99. It is a must have iPhone app for any music lover.

Concert Vault

This little app gives you an entire world of live concerts on your iPhone. This vault has live recordings of music concerts from around the world. It also has concerts for various genres of music. The access to the concerts and the app, both are completely free.

Lyrical

If you are a fan of the lyrics of songs as much as the songs, then this the perfect app for you. The app finds out the lyrics of the songs you play, on its own. You can even view these lyrics off line. Also, you can search the lyrics of your favorite songs with this app.

MixMeister Scratch

This is a handy app for DJs. All it does is produce scratching sounds while a song is playing on your iPhone. It is available for iPhone as well as iPod and it is completely free. This is one of the most useful iPhone apps.

I hope you liked my collection of the best music apps that you can download on your iPhone, and that you are rushing to the Apple apps store already.

FleetMatics’ New iPhone Mobile App for Apple Receives Tremendous Market Response

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–FleetMatics, a leading global provider of fleet management solutions for commercial fleet vehicles, announced today that its newly introduced FleetMatics iPhone Mobile App for Apple and Android-powered smartphones is receiving remarkable market response from users. The new app, which was unveiled June 23, 2011, quickly rose to the prestigious status of ‘top free business apps’ in the iTunes App Store on the day it was introduced to the market.

“I downloaded the iPhone app as soon as I heard it was available – which I saw on the FleetMatics home page”

FleetMatics’ Mobile App is a powerful mobile delivery platform that offers a portable, full-featured version of the FleetMatics 8.0 GPS Vehicle Tracking System. The easy-to-use mobile application provides fleet owners and managers with real-time access to vehicle locations, alerts, reports and dashboards anytime and anywhere, using a native Apple application. The new app is available from the iTunes Store.

Best Electrical in Stevenage, England were among the thousands of FleetMatics customers that quickly took advantage of the new mobile access to their fleet data.

“I downloaded the iPhone app as soon as I heard it was available – which I saw on the FleetMatics home page,” said Daniel Allison. “Obviously that means where ever I’m at I can always see where the engineers are, so it’s brilliant if I’m out of the office.”

Mobile Access to Key Fleet Data – Anytime and Anywhere

According to Peter Mitchell, CTO of FleetMatics, “Our development teams quickly responded to customer interest by taking FleetMatics software ‘mobile.’ We engineered this powerful iPhone app to deliver the top features our customers want, and the response has been positive. On the very day the app was unveiled, we had nearly 1,700 installs…representing more than 30,500 vehicles worldwide. Demand has skyrocketed since and online reviews are 5 stars.”

He continued, “Our new apps are popular because mobility is critical to any small or mid-sized business that uses company cars and trucks to deliver products and services to customers. Today’s challenging economic times mean business leaders must continually make business decisions that improve operational efficiency without sacrificing customer satisfaction. With FleetMatics’ Mobile, fleet managers can run their fleet operations just as smoothly from their smartphone as they do from the office.”

With FleetMatics iPhone Mobile App, users can:

  • Utilize full FleetMatics software functionality, not just mobile web browsing.
  • Quickly locate any driver in the mobile workforce or link the nearest technician to an urgent job.
  • Make key business decisions based on ‘fleet insight’ delivered via Dashboard metrics and Scorecards.
  • Receive real-time activity alerts and push notifications on the smartphone.
  • Drill-down into Google-powered features such as Live Fleet or Route Replay to investigate incidents in the field.
  • Create a new Point of Interest (POI) on Google Maps from anywhere.

Technology Innovation on Demand

FleetMatics fleet tracking system uses GPS satellitetechnology and Google Maps to provide real-time locations and record historical vehicle activity. The solution can be installed and operated very quickly by a skilled team of professional technicians who can install a vehicle tracking unit into each company vehicle. There are no exposed wires or antennas, making the equipment virtually tamper proof, and allowing for covert installation. The vehicle tracking units transmit data to the FleetMatics servers via GPRS wireless networks every 90 seconds, delivering ‘real-time’ insight for improved decision making. Fleet tracking information can then be accessed 24 hours a day either via smartphone or through any internet connection around the world.

To ensure robust support in the U.S. market for the new FleetMatics 8.0 Tracking System and Mobile App, FleetMatics completed implementation late last year of a new hosted data center, with ViaWest in Denver, Colorado, providing the servers. The multimillion dollar infrastructure investment augments the company’s other hosting site, located in Dublin, Ireland.

Iphone 5 Features

The news surrounding the new upcoming Apple iPhone 5 and its release date is getting very hot under the collar to say the least and if all true a June release date is looking good, we will also let you know about some new parts photos showing the iPhone 5’s casing.

The Motley Fool on MSNBC is reporting that the iPhone 5 will be available from June 20, 2011. We all know that the white iPhone 4 is releasing June 20th and Apple Marketing Phil Schiller verified this via Twitter. Now the question is will they release the white iPhone 4 or a new iPhone 5? Just a simple question we felt we should ask.

Apparently the iPhone 5 will come to Market June 20, we all know that Apple WILL NOT release at the white iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5 at the same time and considering Apple always releases a new iPhone in June we are suspecting it will be a new smartphone and not just a new colour, we could be wrong but we are only going on past releases.

Looking at other news covering the new iPhone 5 comes via MacRumors by way of China Times Reports (via GadgetsDNA) showing new photos of the metal chassis, MacRumors titled it article “iPhone 5 Due in Q3, 4-Inch Screen, Metal Chassis?”

China Times Reports (Photo Below) shows the metal chassis and suggests that this new metal rim will help with signal as it will be the main antenna sensitivity, it will also be a 4-inch touchscreen smartphone. It is looking like the iPhone 5 will look like the iPhone 4 so not much in the way of design change here, the photo below shows the iPhone 4 and 5 casings side-by-side.

The Apple iPhone 5 may also support both GSM and CDMA networks just like the Verizon iPhone as we know this works. We will bring you more news as it comes in; keep updated by joining us on either Facebook or Twitter.

Submit iPhone Apps Ideas and Let the Cash Roll In

It’s actually no surprise that there are some people who are making upwards of five figures per day just by selling a single app in Apple’s App Store. It may sound pretty unbelievable, but just think about it for a second. The Apple iPhone has become a huge success in recent years worldwide and it largely has to give thanks to the extreme range of apps available for these devices.

Just imagine how many people visit and browse the App Store on a daily basis. The audience is huge, giving you direct access to millions of iPhone users who are searching for more apps.

The iPhone, the iPod Touch, and now the recent iPad have literally opened the doors to a new wave of “mobile millionaires” who are getting rich by riding on the tail of Apple Inc.

Now, the biggest problem concerned with starting to create apps is usually the technical part. People love the creativity that’s involved with designing an app–heck, you may even have an idea for a new app already–but the thought of all that computer programming and coding is enough to make anyone run for the hills and forget about the whole idea.

That’s why you need a system. Not only do you need a system that allows you to completely bypass the entire technical development of your app, but you need a system that takes you through the entire app process from your first brainstorming ideas right to the very first sale you make. With a proven system, there’s no way you can go wrong.

And once you’s successfully completed one round of iPhone app-making, you can do it over and over and over again! Imagine having 10, 20, or even more great apps selling in the App Store, bringing you in loads of cash all day, every day, and while you sleep! Now that’s some powerful stuff.

It’s no wonder that people everywhere are seizing the opportunity. There have even reportedly been high school students and broke college kids building successful iPhone app businesses for themselves. There’s really nothing holding you back, and if you love the iPhone and the idea of creating unique apps, why not go for it?
