Using Redsn0w to Jailbreak IPhone 4

One of the well known programs that are used for iphone unlocking is redsn0w. This free iOS program is actually a tool that is used for unlocking iPhone. It was developed by iPhone Dev team and it has the capabilities to execute several jailbreak programs for many types of devices including the iPhone and iPad. The main target of redsn0w is to be able to run iOS devices through the use of low-level based boor ROM settings. This program enables the phones to remove the restrictions that were originally placed by the manufacturer while at the same time it allows users to jailbreak the iOS based device. This program actually supports several devices such as iPod touches and even original iPad. It runs depending on the device and the iOS type. This means that users would need to constantly update their operating systems in order to complete the process of iphone unlocking.

Redsn0w reads through a copy of the iOS firmware from the Apple device and then runs several codes that are intended to target the kernels of the device. The effects would be to run directly from the device inside the RAM disk. The boot ROM exploits are intended to target the program in order to complete iphone unlocking. Since firmware updates from the Apple Company cannot update such devices from the Boot ROM then jailbreaking the device would be effective. Once redsn0w is running, another program called Cydia is installed within the device. This added program includes other features that users would need for their phone. Redsn0w also includes several added bonuses including wallpapers, cool features and it will even include multitasking protocols for those who would be using the jailbreak iphone 4 settings. The user interface of the program would also be changed in order to suit the firmware. The user would be able to select the type of programs he would want to run.

Some of the added features for the jailbreak iphone 4 operating systems are the blue tooth settings. Users would be able to use several features with their Bluetooth hardware and they would be able to use the Bluetooth in a number of ways including connection to unknown devices and added program features. In order to run redsn0w, you will need to get a copy from the internet. There are several copies in the web and you can actually start with its main site. Redsn0w has its own website which you can visit if you want to look for some facts about the program or if you want to look for some comments made by users. Once you downloaded the latest version of the program, you can run it through the use of your phone. Connect your phone through your data cable and wait for it to load. Once loading is complete then you can save the installer to your iPhone device. Run redsn0w and wait for it to complete its installation. Right after the installation, you will now be able to use the unlocked features.

Chronic Dev Team Gives Update On iPad 2 Jailbreak

On June the 14th, 2011, iPhone Dev team teased about the jailbreak by updating their website with an image that showed a sign board with PDF written on it. Experts came up with an idea that this was pointing towards a potential PDF-based exploit. Later on June the 15th, Comex, memeber of iPhone Dev Team, answered an iPad user who asked him about the jailbreak with ‘It’s almost ready.’ But no words from Comex have been heard since then.

Today Joshua Hill of the Chronic Dev Team has once again given an update on the state of iPad 2 jailbreak by posting a tweet on his Twitter account:

We don’t know what exactly are the "lots of other exciting projects" that Joshua Hill has tweeted about, but what interests us is the fact that the Chronic Dev Team is working very hard on the iPad 2 jailbreak and will most probably release it in the very near future.

Previously, it has been confirmed that Greenpois0n is not going to jailbreak iPad 2, rather the Chronic Dev Team is going to make an entirely new program for jailbreaking the iPad 2. It is possible that development of this new program has caused some delays in the iPad 2 jailbreak release. Stay tuned.

How to Upload Large IPhone Voice Memos to Your PC

As a traveling musician, I love the iPhone’s new layout for its Voice Memo program, as it allows me to make live recordings of my shows, song ideas, or just vocal cues to remember in the future, and listen to those memos in my car or on headphones. However, I’ve noticed one significant problem with the program: while small voice memos can easily be shared with my computer, memos over 8 minutes in length need to be cut up before being transferred. This isn’t too simple for me sometimes, so I set out to find a better way.

Here are a few tips for uploading large (over 8 minute) voice memos from your iPhone to your PC.

Syncing. By setting up your iPhone to sync automatically to your computer, you’ll automatically back up all of your voice memos to a special playlist in your iTunes.

Plug your iPhone into the PC that it normally syncs to, and open up iTunes. Click on the iPhone icon on the side of the screen, then select “Music.” You’ll see a checkbox that says “Include Voice Memos.” Select it, then re-sync your iPhone. Your voice memos, even the larger ones over the file limit for email transfer, will sync over to your computer for review or backup. iTunes creates a new playlist called “Voice Memos” for this app, and it’s now constant–every time you connect the iPhone to your computer, voice memos will sync, so be sure to delete any from your computer that you don’t really want to store.

Better Programs. If you’re dead set on getting iPhone voice memos to your computer wirelessly, and you regularly record voice memos over eight minutes long, it’s time to look at some other iPhone apps that better suit your purposes.

FourTrack is an iPhone App designed for musicians, as it provides the basic functionality of an old four track recorder, but even if you’re not a musician you’ll find it convenient to transfer files through a wireless connection straight from FourTrack’s main interface. It also allows you to add panning or even adjust the volume of certain memos, and at $10 it’s well worth it, though it’s worth noting that it’s a bit more of a hassle to start a new memo than it is with the iPhone’s Voice Memo app, as the design is more for complex recording.

Apple iPhone 5 Release Date for T-Mobile and Verizon?

A lot of Apple fans are wondering if the new iPhone 5 release date is going to be on T-Mobile. This is especially interesting since AT&T just recently announced its purchase of the wireless provider. Either way, many T-Mobile customers have wanted the iPhone for quite some time now, in addition to new and current Verizon customers.  The latter finally got their wish not long ago, but will T-Mobile cell phone owners?

Apparently, T-Mobile has retracted an earlier, somewhat fumbled attempt to deflect the iPhone 5 question. While it has been said for quite some time that the iPhone would be part of the T-Mobile family of phones “eventually,” a lot of customers are anticipating the carrier will be included in the iPhone 5 release.

T-Mobile posted a Q&A shortly after the AT&T merger announcement which stated, “We do not offer the iPhone” as an attempt to spin customer focus toward its other device offering. Now, the wireless carrier has removed the iPhone statements from their Q&A. Of course, removing “iPhone” from their Q&A only caused the rumors to fly more. Considering the carrier has said the T-Mobile and AT&T merger will take 12 months, T-Mobile customers may not want to hold their breath on the iPhone 5 release date, because the device will already be halfway through its life-span by then. Maybe consumers currently using T-Mobile should set their sites on a possible iPhone 6 release for 2012?

Then again, there is nothing saying the merger has to go through entirely in order for T-Mobile customers to get their paws on the iPhone 5. A deal could still be made with the necessary partners to enable an iPhone 5 release on T-Mobile.

Are you a current T-Mobile customer? If so, are you hoping for an iPhone 5 release on the T-Mobile network?

Doppelganger | Celebrity Look Alike Generator

In a recent fad started by Facebook, everyone is in search of their doppelganger. What is a doppelganger? Well, by definition of Wikipedia a doppelganger is:

In the vernacular, the word “doppelgänger” has come to refer (as in German) to any double or look-alike of a person. The word is also used to describe the sensation of having glimpsed oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection. They are generally regarded as harbingers of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelgänger seen by a person’s friends or relatives portends illness or danger, while seeing one’s own doppelgänger is an omen of death. In Norse mythology, a vardøger is a ghostly double who precedes a living person and is seen performing their actions in advance.

The definition left me feeling kinda freaked out. I don’t know if I’m excited or nervous to find my doppelganger now. But here goes.

The first set of results below are mine from MyHeritage. However, I don’t think I really resemble any of them. And so therefore, I retried it all over again with a different picture of myself a few times. And here are the links to my other look-a-likes:

Anna Kournikova (famous tennis player) look-a-like.

Jessica Simpson (famous singer) look-a-like.

And here is my results using the Celebrity Twin2me iphone app.

I tried this app out with three differnet photos that had a variety of hairstyles. And each time I was pretty happy with my results. What makes this application stand out of all apps is that uses more of our core facial features to render results as opposed to many that are based solely on your current hairstyle.

If you too, want to jump on the Facebook bandwagon & join in on the fun, it’s fast, simple and free at Picitup.com or MyHeritage.com. Or if you prefer the ease of using your iPhone, you can check out the awesome doppelganger finder in the app store called Celebrity Twin2me. It’s only 99cents and seems to render the best results of all generators I have tried. And as a plus, you can link the app straight to your Facebook account and select from pics you already have saved. I loved this feature because I didn’t feel like touching up my hair and makeup right then to get my results. I just chose my current profile pic to get results fast.

You can then post your results to any of your social pages and share the fun. Just a note, MyHeritage.com wants you to install a toolbar before you can use the morph feature. I hated to, but eventually did. And nothing bad has happened to my pc.

Have fun and if you wish, feel free to leave your celebrity look-alike photo in a comment! I’d love to see which celebrities (look a likes) are reading my articles. lol.

iPhone Vs Droid

In the smartphone wars that are increasingly taking shape around us today, an interesting battle that is arising is that between iPhone Vs Droid. These are two mammoth brand names in the industry, and they are fast changing the way we carry out our mobile activities. There are many who are convinced that the iPhone is the ultimate smartphone to own, and it is hard to argue with this. The Droid series released by Motorola are just the latest in a long line of supposed ‘iPhone killers’, and admittedly they have come the closest.

When we speak of the iPhone in this comparison we naturally refer to the newest model, the Apple iPhone 4G, which was released in June 2010. On the other hand, a Droid refers to one of two models – Droid X (released in July 2010) and Droid 2 (released in August 2010). The difference between these two models can be seen in this Droid X vs Droid 2 comparison.

iPhone Vs Droid Comparison

The primary difference between iPhone and Droid is that of the operating system, or the platform on which they function. iOS and Android are two of the best and most user-friendly platforms available today, and both have their strengths and attractive points. Android is growing at an enormous rate, and it seems that it is only a matter of time before it overtakes iOS though, and the main reason for this is the large number of mobile manufacturers that are allowed to work with Android. This simply increases the number of handsets that function on Android, and here you will find many HTC phones,Motorola phones and Samsung mobile phones that use this platform. The iOS, on the other hand, is only limited to the Apple iPhone.

With this in mind, here is an iPhone Vs Droid review that will clear up many things for you. If you are unable to decide which is better iPhone or Droid, this iPhone Vs Droid comparison and review will be useful for you.

iPhone Vs Droid X

Specification Apple iPhone Droid 2 Display Screen 3.5 inches, 640×960 pixels, Retina-Eye Display, TFT Capacitive Touchscreen 3.7 inches, 480×854 pixels, TFT Capacitive Touchscreen with sliding out full QWERTY keyboard Processor 1 GHz Apple A4 Processor 1 GHz TI OMAP # Processor Operating System iOS 4 Android 2.2 (Froyo) Camera 5 MP with Autofocus and LED Flash, Secondary Camera Available 5 MP with Autofocus, No Secondary Camera Video 720p@30fps 720p@24fps Memory 16GB/32GB Internal Storage, No microSD card slot, 512MB RAM 8GB Internal Storage, microSD card slot available, 512MB RAM

The biggest difference between the Droid X and the Droid 2 is the sliding QWERTY keyboard on the Droid 2, which makes this the true successor of the original Motorola Droid. All the advantages that the iPhone 4 has over the Droid X can be considered here too.

Advantages of Droid 2 over iPhone 4

  • Full QWERTY keyboard, for those who prefer a solid keyboard.
  • All the advantages of Android 2.2, like sharing data package, storing downloaded apps on microSD card, and true multitasking amongst others.
  • Faster response time
  • Cheaper package and hardware
  • Expandable memory

In my opinion, the iPhone 4 beats the Droid 2 hands down. Only people with a real fondness for a QWERTY keyboard will choose this phone over the iPhone 4, but the keyboard on the iPhone 4 is no slouch either. Android 2.2 brings many advantages with it, but the Droid X will soon get an update to Froyo as well, and this will make it even better than the iPhone 4, in my opinion. The Droid 2 though is something that you can avoid. This iPhone competitors comparison will also provide you with some useful information.

With this information on iPhone Vs Droid, you can now make an informed decision about which smartphone would represent the best buy for you. You must remember that there is no such thing as a perfect smartphone, and it all depends on what you want out of your phone, and what your primary usage is going to be like.

Rumor: iPhone 5 to Add New Feature Called AirDrop

There have been a lot of buzz and rumors lately surrounding the possible new features and specs of the upcoming iPhone 5. And the latest rumor about the next version of the iPhone? The next-gen iPhone will add a new feature called AirDrop.

According to a report, the AirDrop feature currently being used in Mac OS X Lion will possibly come to the new iPhone 5.

Some of you may be wondering what AirDrop is and what can it do? Well, AirDrop lets you send files wirelessly to anyone around you without any required set-up or special settings. With AirDrop, your iOS device automatically discovers other people nearby who are also using this feature. You can simply share a file and drag it to someone else’s name in your address book, and presto, once accepted, the file transfers directly to the person’s downloads folder. You’ll even see contact photos for those who are already in your address book.

Furthermore, AirDrop does not even require users to be on the same Wi-Fi network; you just have to be nearby and your iOS device must have a recent or modern Wi-Fi hardware. AirDrop is also perfect for those with more than one iOS device, people working on documents together in an office, and if you need to quickly turn assignments into a teacher in school, for example.

With Apple’s easy to understand interface, an iOS AirDrop feature on the new iPhone 5 could make sharing between iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers really simple.

An AirDrop feature on the new iPhone 5 is truly a cool, nifty, and very helpful addition to the said device if the rumor proves to be true because it’ll surely take the next version of the iPhone to the next level. So AirDrop on the next-gen iPhone? We can only hope so.
