Is iPhone 5 Worth Waiting for?

UPDATE: The release of iPhone 4S on October 4 gives us even more reasons to wait for the iPhone 5. However, there is no iPhone 5 so far. Till then, bask in the terrific features that are a part of iPhone 4S. Listed below are features that were expected to be in iPhone 5, but are now, present in iPhone 4S.

You type ‘iPhone’ on Google, and you generate about 2,200,000,000 results in just 0.14 seconds (I just typed it, don’t argue). More than 70 countries of the world became a part of this smartphone bandwagon. Thousands of companies launched its lookalikes – most of which actually worked in favor of them. Once upon a time, there was iPhone. Then came iPhone 2G, followed by iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, and then, you couldn’t get your eyes off iPhone 4G. It really wouldn’t be wrong to call it the best Internet phone that comes with a traffic reporter, a weather forecaster, RSS reader, and a light sensor in a mystifying multi-touch screen that’s everything for the user (it’s a mouse, it’s a keypad, it’s a notepad, or a joystick… who knows?). The developers of the iPhone had much bigger plans for this beautiful gadget, and photos, videos, songs, et al, were just the beginning. The App store by Apple is no less than a wicked fun pocket computer giving you away, in just a few megabytes, world’s largest repository of words, an entire library of books, a rock band in 3D, and well, Angry Birds. Calling the iPhone just a phone would be such a disgrace.

Today, if you’re struggling to figure out whether or not is the iPhone 5, after Lady Gaga’s new album, the most-awaited release of the year, then I must say, I’m disappointed. I can’t believe you said that. What I can do, however, is give you a few reasons to hang on to your hat, while Apple smoothes the way to the iPhone 5G’s release. Just a read through the following words, and you’ll stop asking Google whether or not should you wait for the fifth generation iPhone to release.

Reasons to Wait for iPhone 5

You know, there’s so much buzz about the iPhone 5 release date and specifications that’s zooming all over the tech-market that no one is really interested in the basics. Yes, iPhone 5G will be sleeker. Why? Because it has happened with every installment of iPhone. And yes. It will be shockproof and scratch proof. iOS 5, dual camera… wait, dual enhanced camera, wireless syncing with iTunes, more carriers other than AT&T, and yes. The iPhone 5G might come in white too. But then, there are a lot many features of iPhone, that you might not be aware of, and therefore, let’s check out the driving factors in iPhone 5G that make it immensely anticipated.

LTE Support

So, you think iPhone 4G is the buzzing gadget till date, huh? Let me tell you that the biggest reason to wait for the iPhone 5G is its ability to support LTE. Now, those who’re clueless about LTE must know that it is a technology that takes mobile communications network to another level by supporting 100 Mbit/s downstream speed, and 50 Mbit/s speed upstream. If iPhone 5 comes with LTE support, this is a reason enough to grab the gadget without any ado.

FaceTime

It’s a killer feature that every iPhone user will thank the Apple developers for, even though ninety percent of the iPhone users have never even tried FaceTime in their life. The ability of making video phone calls is a feature hugely anticipated and because iPhone 5 is rumored to have a larger screen this time, even with the same body size, FaceTime is likely to give iPhone users something that none of its predecessors had – video phone calls.

Near-Field Communication

If they enable this feature in the iPhone 5G, believe me, having an iPhone would soon turn into a compulsion, at least in the US. NFC would be the most attractive feather on the iPhone’s hat, considering the ability of this feature to communicate with other devices. How? Think of a day you went for shopping, and bought stuff for more than a thousand dollars. Oops… you forgot your wallet at home! Now, if you have the iPhone 5 in hand, just wave it in front of a device that recognizes NFC. Well, there you’re done with your shopping! Dear credit and debit cards, sorry to hear about NFC. Sincerely, iPhone 5.

Even though the iPhone 5 is just a flicker in the future, and Apple hasn’t yet set a release date for this phenomenal gadget, it will be worth the wait, or so the mind-boggling rumors make it. Doesn’t matter if some of the rumors aren’t true. Doesn’t matter if the real iPhone 5G turns out to be something else at its release. What matters is, how much does it make you salivate, considering the back-fence blabbers that make it a must-have this year. Come on, try hanging on to your busted, old phone for a few months more. If you crave for the hottest technology, the iPhone 5 is going to be right here. Well, it’s worth the wait.

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 04, 2012

iPhone4sJailbreak within just days of the release of the latest iOS 5.1.1 from Apple, have produced an innovative unlocking application which will enable all iPhone owners to free the network restriction caused by the latest iPhone 5.1.1 update.

The iPhone 4S is fast becoming more and more popular as prices start to fall. The major downfall is the limited number of networks that are available and the expensive price plans. Several iPhone Unlocking services state that they can iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 4s, 4, 3Gs, iPad 2 & New iPad 3, but they have been tested and have been proven to be very unreliable.

iPhone4sJailbreak.com were formed in mid 2010 and have successfully jailbroken and unlocked over 1 million iPhones worldwide. This is unparalleled by any other service in the industry. They have achieved this by combining a very simple solution with a fantastic customer service department that is available 24/7 through many forms of contact, including telephone.

The iPhone itself is packed with a wide assortment of features and functions, but it is typically only available on expensive price plans and predetermined networks. This has created anger within the jailbreak iPhone community, as it is believed that the customer should have the freedom to choose their own price plan or network provider.

The wonderful feature of the iPhone unlocking software is that upon unlocking the iPhone one will not lose any of the great features and functionality of the iPhone. This provides the iPhone user absolute freedom over network choice, and a fully functioning device.

The iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 4s, 4, 3Gs, iPad 2 & New iPad 3 untethered software comes with a full 30 day money back guarantee, lifetime updates and most important of all, lifetime support. If one should require first class service at an affordable price, there is only one simple choice that has to be made.

New iPhone 5 Release Date: Rumors Say 4-Inch Display for Apple Smartphone Confirmed on Video

Though the new iPhone 5 release date looms, fans of the highly desired Apple gadget have managed to scrounge up a video which some feel is confirmation the technology giant is working on a new iPhone with a 4-inch display back in Cupertino.

Despite Apple’s CEO having recently shot down talk of a larger handset, fans have held on to the idea of having a completely redesigned 6th generation iPhone with a larger screen. Maybe people are hoping Apple will see all the user submitted concept designs and snag one for the new design.

A recent article discusses the long-awaited iPhone 5 release date, and describes the handset in the video as having a thinner device with a metallic antenna, and a longer handset overall. The latter is what people speculate over the most, since this goes along with rumors of a 4-inch display.

What do you think? Does the video below show what consumers will be buying once the iPhone 5 release date arrives? The iOS 6 release is expected to be announced at the upcoming WWDC, and the new Apple smartphone will likely follow in the latter part of 2012.

White iPhone vs Black iPhone: What’s the Clamor all About?

As an interior designer, I love all things beautiful, but more than that, I love when “form follows function.” The iPhone is a perfect case in point (forgive the pun).

The iPhone is a marvel on so many levels that despite issues with dropped calls, it’s been the game-changer in the smartphone industry and the standard which every other maker aspires to surpass, and to date, has not.

So what’s the big deal with the white iPhone 4? I don’t get it.

Black is cool, black is hot. Black is industrial, black is chic. No one ever called the “little white dress” the go-everywhere, must-have, basic of every wardrobe. Furthermore, the horizon line between the black screen and the black case literally disappears, which is perhaps the most elegant aspect of it.

If you want a white case, what’s wrong with an after market case that not only adds the white color but protects your iPhone at the same time? Since you’re going to get a case anyway, why not a white one?

So again I ask, what’s the big deal with the white iPhone 4? I still don’t get it. Perhaps someone can clue me in. I welcome the answer. Or maybe I’ll just wait until it’s released, whenever that is, and find out for myself.

Where’s My iPhone!? Locating Your iPhone When You Forgot Where You Left It.

With all the hubbub in the news about the new iPhone 4, I thought I would take this opportunity to remind people to protect their new investment.

iPhone’s represent the world to many people; they worry about their iPhone as if their iPhone is a newly adopted child, caress them as if they are fragile kittens.

Once in while, people get distracted, forget that their phone is sitting beside their water glass on a coffeeshop table, and head off for bright shiny objects.

Later, panic sets in as the iPhone’s lack of presence is noted, sweat coats the brow, the heart races off the chart. Now what?

Well, if you didn’t think ahead, someone is now the proud owner of a free iPhone. In that case, and the iPhone is really important to you, then do this. Hopefully, when you registered your iPhone, you made a note of the iPhone’s Unique Device ID (UDID), and the serial number. You will need the information when you fill out the police report. When you visit your local AT&T store to ask them to help you locate your iPhone, you will need to provide them your police report. Good luck on that.

If you did consider the loss or misplaced iPhone, then you probably installed an iPhone app to help you find/map the location of your iPhone. One such app is MobileMe. MobileMe, available from the Apple iStore, allows you to track down a misplaced iPhone using an online mapping application. If your iPhone has fallen into enemy hands you have the ability to remotely lock your iPhone. MobileMe allows you to synchronize your email, calendar, and contact list with your iPad and computer, as well.

Do yourself a favor and find yourself an iPhone app that will help you track down your iPhone. Or, Droid, for that matter.

Apple sells over 5 million iPhone 5, supply constraints loom

(Reuters) – Apple Inc sold over 5 million iPhone 5 smartphones in the three days since it hit stores, but shares sagged as the company struggled to meet demand.

While sales were solid, the company said on Monday it had run out of its initial supply and many pre-orders were scheduled to go out in October.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said the company is “working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone.”

Expectations for new Apple products were so high – some analysts forecast Apple selling as many as 10 million phone over the weekend – that Wall Street was not wowed by the latest numbers. The stock was down 1.7 percent at $688.64 in afternoon trade.

Given the demand, Apple, the world’s most valuable company, is being closely watched for any supplier problems that may slow down the smartphone production.

“We believe that sales could have potentially been much higher if not for supply constraints,” William Power, an analyst with Baird Equity Research, wrote in a note.

Supply limitations are likely to weigh on Apple as the iPhone 5 is launched in another 22 countries on Friday.

To complicate matters, Apple’s largest contract manufacturer Foxconn Technology closed a factory in the northern Chinese city of Taiyuan after a riot broke out among 2,000 employees.

Foxconn did not confirm which plants supply Apple, but an employee told Reuters the Taiyuan plant is among those that assemble and make parts for Apple’s iPhone 5.

Apple referred questions on the factory to Foxconn. The California company also assembles its devices at factories run by Pegatron Corp.

On the parts side, Apple’s key supplier for screens, Sharp Corp, has been struggling with high costs and scrambling to raise funds to pay debt. Sources had told Reuters the company’s output of new iPhone displays had fallen behind schedule.

STRONG DEMAND

The early total for the iPhone 5 topped sales of the iPhone 4S, which sold more than 4 million units in its first weekend after Apple introduced it in October 2011.

The numbers do not include units that have yet to be shipped or delivered to customers as Apple books sales only when online customers sign for the purchase.

“We are not overly concerned with this ‘disappointing’ number as we believe this is a classic case of near-term expectations getting out of touch with reality,” Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu said.

He added that he expects Apple to sell a total of 27 million iPhones in the September quarter and 46.5 million units in the December quarter.

The iPhone 5 has been one of Apple’s most aggressive international rollouts to date. The phone will be available 31 countries on September 28 and in more than 100 countries by the end of the year.

“Expectations for Apple are always white hot,” said Colin Gillis, a research analyst with BGC. “It’s not just enough for them to break records but to smash them.”

The iPhone is Apple’s highest-margin product and accounts for half of its annual revenues.

Apple is facing stiff competition from smartphones that run on Google Inc’s Android software, which has become the most-used mobile operating system in the world. Apple’s key supplier as well as rival, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, has taken the lead in smartphone sales.

Apple signaled last week that pre-orders outstripped initial supply and that many phones would not be available until October.

Advantage And Disadvantage of iPhone 4S

Still debating whether or not to spring for the new iPhone 4S? While it does come with some shiny new hardware and software inside, not everyone will benefit from an upgrade. Debate no more – here, the advantages and disadvantages of the new smartphone.

Advantages

New camera – The 8MP camera with simple editing features (crop, rotate, enhance, and red-eye reduction), a backside illumination sensor, and larger aperture (for better low-light and white balance correction) make the iPhone 4S’s camera one that competes with regular point-and-shoots. It will also come with face detection and image stabilization and the ability to capture HD 1080p video.

Faster processor – The custom A5 chip in the iPhone 4S is the same one you’ll find on the iPad 2, which means the iPhone 4S will be faster in processing speeds, games, and downloads.

More carriers – Since the iPhone 4S is compatible with CDMA and GSM cellular bands, you can use it in more places around the globe. Even on Sprint’s network, if you’re looking for a change.

Siri integration – Apple’s new Assistant feature basically turns the iPhone 4S into a voice recognizing personal assistant. The demo during the keynote was impressive and highlighted some interesting uses for the blind, hands-free texting, and more.

Wireless syncing – Raise the roof for wireless sync! This will be an iOS 5 feature that will be compatible for the iPad and iPod Touch as well, but I couldn’t help but mention the fact that you’ll soon be able to set up your devices and get updates without connecting your iDevice to a Mac or PC.

Airplay – If you’ve got an Apple TV, the iPhone 4S will allow you to stream what’s playing on your device to your HDTV with Airplay, which is built right into the new iPhone.

Fingerprint resistant – The iPhone 4S has an oleophobic coating on its glass exterior, making it resistant to fingerprints by repelling oils in your fingers.

Disadvantages

No 4G – Still no 4G on the iPhone 4S. This is unfortunate, but you may not have to wait too much longer to get fast download speeds on your iDevice – analysts believe that Apple is waiting for better LTE chips before adding them into the iPhone, which could be as soon as early next year.

No NFC – Mobile payments on the iPhone will have to wait as Apple has excluded NFC (near-field communication) technology on the latest iPhone model. Of course, this won’t be a deal breaker for some of you who said you wouldn’t use it anyway.

All those leaked case images – We’ve seen too many leaked “iPhone 5″ case images to forget about the wider screen, sleek form, and wider body. I’m betting the real iPhone 5 is just around the corner.

Other options – Why spend upwards of $199 with a two-year contract when you could spend $99 and get an iPhone 4? Sure, you won’t get the 8MP camera and Assistant feature, but it’s a really good deal nonetheless. Even better – the 3GS is free!

No unlocked models . . . yet – If you’re an avid traveler, you might want to hold off on purchase for a few months. According to Apple’s website, unlocked versions of the iPhone 4S are coming soon.

So Should You Buy?

iPhone 3GS owners who have been waiting for their contracts to expire will get a much-needed bump in power, speed, and form factor with this update, and it’s one that’s worthy of your hard-earned dollars. iPhone 4 owners should stick to their current handsets and simply update to iOS 5 to get that “new phone feel.” You’d be better off waiting for the iPhone 5 next year.
