Comparing The iPhone 4 With The BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900

BlackBerry and Apple are two of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Their current flagship handsets offer impressive specifications, but they are two very different phones.

The new BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 offers a Qwerty keyboard combined with a small touchscreen and seems to be pitched largely at the business user, whereas the Apple iPhone 4 offers something for everyone. In this article I will offer a comparison of the two to help you choose the right smartphone.

iPhone 4

The wildly popular iPhone 4 boasts one of the most impressive spec lists of any smartphone currently available. With its 3.5 inch retina display offering the highest pixel resolution of any smartphone on the market, multimedia users are in for a treat with superb display quality and a super responsive touchscreen thanks to the 1 GHz Apple A4 processor. The AppStore is on hand to offer hundreds of thousands of Apps from every imaginable category. These take advantage of the hardware on offer, and increases the potential of the handset in terms of functionality and entertainment value tremendously. Also, the iPod function, in conjunction with the ample internal storage (starting at 16GB) means that users no longer have to carry a separate MP3 player to enjoy their favourite music tracks on the go. Aside from the technology on offer, the iPhone 4 has become something of a design icon, with its modern styling and durable steel and glass construction. The popularity of the iPhone 4 is testament to its features and the experience they provide. At the time of writing we are only a short while away from the official announcement of the iPhone 5, so who knows what marvels this will include.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900

Whilst the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 offers an ideal productivity companion for the business user, it seems to lack a certain “wow factor” that you get with the Apple handset. That said, this is a handset aimed almost exclusively at excelling at functionality. The handset does however appear more refined and well built than previous Bold models. This is the first Bold handset to come with a touchscreen, and combines this with the physical Qwerty keyboard that BlackBerry devices have become known for. Whether you are a business user or a BlackBerry fan, this is a welcome improvement over its predecessors. There are a number of performance enhancements, in fact this actually beats the iPhone 4 with a 1.2 GHz processor, and offers a similar 5 megapixel camera. The basic functions between these handsets are relatively similar, although the iPhone 4 offers more downloadable Apps and an arguably more user friendly interface.

Whilst it would be easy to say that one phone is better than the other, we need to remember that they are aimed at different demographics and are designed to carry out different tasks for the most part. One thing is for sure though; they are both great phones and deserve their rightful place as the respective manufacturers’ smartphones. Either one is a great investment once you have decides which one best suits your individual needs.

iPhone 5 Release Date Rumors & News: New Images of Upcoming iOS 6 Apple Mobile Device

New iPhone 5 release date rumors and news have surfaced, which show what some say are images of the upcoming iOS 6 Apple mobile device. If the detailed images are of the long-awaited 6th generation smartphone, it confirms many of the specs predictions made by various sources.

The new iPhone images, which have some analysts suspicious, popped up online and show a handset with a taller screen, a new dock connector, and a semi-unibody enclosure. This isn’t the first time “leaked” images of the smartphone have hit the Internet, but it seems unlikely they are the real deal. After all, Apple is very secretive about whatever they are tinkering with.

Appleites are still holding on to a shred of hope that the iPhone 5 release date announcement will come next month at the WWDC, and a recent article states it is likely consumers will see many more of these alleged Apple smartphone pictures before then.

What are your thoughts of the new leaked photos? Do you think Apple will Announce the iPhone 5 release date at the WWDC?

Will There Be a Real IPhone 5 Preview Soon?

Where can you Find an iPhone 5 Preview?

Apple is very secretive when it comes to new products and this is why we have not seen an iPhone 5 preview yet. We may never see a real preview, but there are some thoughts out there of what might be included in this new phone. If you are one of the many that absolutely love Apple products, then you will want to keep reading.

Below you are going to find a small iPhone 5 preview from the information out there. Some of this may just be speculation, but most of the information comes from good sources that usually provide very accurate information. Those wanting to know what the iPhone 5 may really feature can get an idea here.

Upgrading to the Next Technology with the iPhone 5 Preview

We have all been waiting to see what type of features the new phone from Apple with have and many are ready to hop right on board with this new phone. Here are some of the things we may see in the new iPhone 5.

There is a good chance the new iPhone will ditch the easily scratched glass back plate that the iPhone 4 has. Most likely it will go with a brushed metal back place, to help keep the scratching to a minimum. This will also keep the weight of the phone down a bit more.

Another rumor states that the phone may become much thinner. This same source says the bottom may be tapered and the square edges may be a thing of the past. This evidence shows that Apple may be leaning more towards an iPhone that is designed much more like the iPod touch.

There is a possibility that the iPhone 5 will no longer have any physical buttons. The iPhone 4 only has one, the home button, and chances are this will become an on screen button and it will be out of the way while the user views videos. The reason for this is to make the screen larger; however there is another rumor that discusses a 3.7 inch screen with a larger home button.

Since Apple will not give us a true iPhone 5 preview we are only going off speculation and guessing from what may or may not have been leaked. Take all this with a grain of salt, but don’t be surprised if some of this iPhone 5 preview is true.

The most solid of the information we have gathered includes an upgraded camera to 8.0 megapixels, a faster dual-core processor, and the potential of more memory. There are also rumors of connecting the entire iPhone network to the iCloud freeing up space on the actual device to make it faster and make it work better for the user.

Chances are the upgrades will allow for more realistic game playing, the ability to keep more web pages open at once, and also the ability to switch from one app to another faster and easier. This means your phone will do more for you without any issue and you will be able to do more with this new phone.

The big hope is that Apple will not do the same thing they did with the iPhone 4 and put out a phone with a horrible antenna. They will have a certain improvement and some of the rumors talk about the antenna being where the logo is rumored to be right in the middle of the back. It is also rumored to have more than one antenna.

What the iPhone 5 Preview will Not Have

You won’t find an iPhone 5 preview taking about a removable batter, memory card slot, or the one feature many want, which is the ability to use Adobe Flash. Apple simply won’t do this for whatever reason and even when customers complain and state they want these things Apple won’t make it happen.

We do know that Apple filed for a patent on something called “Smart Bezel”. Whether this is for the iPhone 5 or not it is going to be involved with some Apple product. This is rumored to be areas outside the screen that light up and are touch sensitive. They could be used as game controls or an indicator of some type.

Many rumors suggest NFC technology, but many experts close to Apple believe this is a few years away. This would give you the ability to interact by paying for things with a sensor in your phone. It is very widespread in other countries and Apple may decide to add it to the iPhone 5, but chances are they won’t.

The iPhone 5 is set to be announced potentially in the Fall, but once again this is something Apple will not talk about. There is a better chance of seeing it come out sometime around May of 2012. Either way you can rest assured it will be more advanced than the iPhone 4 and for now you can use this as your iPhone 5 preview.

Meet Rob the Guy Behind iPhone 5 Experiment!

Remember Rob Shoesmith? The marketer and employee for MEDL Mobile based in UK, that’s now on a 2 month long sabbatical leave to complete his iPhone 5 experiment. I previously got in touch with Rob and offered me an email interview which of course I immediately took the opportunity. Once every thing was confirmed and checks out, within minutes, my head flew with all the question that pops in my head, so I wrote every question and of course remove those inappropriate question and sent the email to Rob.

Without further ado, let’s get inside Rob’s head and see what is it like to be the guy to leave everything and waited for the new iPhone 5 for more than 2 months.

Full name: Rob Shoesmith

Age: 30

Profession (day job): Marketing And PR Executive For MEDL Mobile ( App Developer )

Why the heck did you do the experiment and what do you expect to achieve after doing the experiment?

I love apple and the products they sell. In my view the iPhone is by far the best smartphone on the market by a mile. I love Apple product launches and thought it would be fun to do something different. The idea of the experiment is to see if I could live indirectly off Apple’s huge marketing and media coverage through donations from other companies. The response has been insane! I work for a mobile app developer MEDL Mobile and obviously I will be making a lot of new connections throughout.

Did Apple contact you regarding the experiment that you are doing? Probably disclose some information about the upcoming iPhone 5, Something like

"Dear Rob,

You’re crazy and out of your mind doing this experiment, because we won’t be releasing iPhone 5, it’s gonna be iPhone 4.5.

iPhone 5 won’t be out until the summer of 2012"

I’d prefer to keep any communication between Apple and myself confidential.

Did someone pushed you in doing the experiment?

No, I love the iPhone and meeting fellow like minded people who love their tech.Do you see yourself doing this every year or every product release of Apple?

I would say no. I think once you try something you should try and come up with something different. I have a couple of other ideas I’m thinking about doing next year. You obviously got a lot of media coverage doing the iphone 5 experiment, did you also got a lot of job offer?

No I have received no job offers. I’m in a very happy place right now. I have only just started my new job as a Marketing and PR Executive for MEDL Mobile who are an app developer. I love what I do so don’t have any intention of moving on at present. What did your boss, Girl friend (I would assume you have a GF if not Wife), family said after telling them about your iphone 5 experiments?

They thought I was crazy! I knew I could make it work and was determined to proof to them it would be possible. What have you learn so far at this point of the experiment?

The sheer volume of companies who all want to be a part of a new Apple launch. It’s been amazing the different types of companies that have been in touch that are not even in the tech industry. What do you think about the upcoming iPhone 5? Any features/specs that you want to be in the new phone?

I would love for it to have a better camera and battery life. I blog a lot so maybe a bigger screen would be great.

iPhone app reviews: High Noon

If you want to play a Western stand-off game, High Noon is a great iPhone app choice for you. Although I have played one other game like High Noon before, High Noon is actually the better of the two because there are more features and the app is very responsive to the player’s touch.

High Noon is a game in which you have to pretend that your iPhone is a weapon and you play a game of “draw and shoot” with another person via 3G or some other connection. The gaming concept is by no means new, but the way that the developer has created this game makes me believe that this is one of the best games I have ever downloaded. Not only that, but I was surprised that High Noon was free. So, not only is it a great game, but it is a game that the developer has decided to offer for free.

The graphics are not great if you compare them to other games that may have 3D graphics. But, they do fit with the overall concept of the game. The graphics are a bit cartoonish, which makes sense when I think about the gaming concept. It feels like I am watching a Sunday morning cartoon. The graphics are also clear: the characters are not blurry which makes the gameplay much more fun and engaging.

The gameplay, however, is the biggest reason why I love playing High Noon. It is so easy to use the controls that I feel playing the game is second nature. I like that the developer decided to use the accelerometer function in order to control the weapon. Doing so makes High Noon feel like a Wii game, just because it is more interactive that way. And, I love the multiplayer function that allows me to play with people all over the world. There are so many weapons from which to choose, making each duel interesting and fun. The app is very responsive to the controls, so I do not feel like I have to throw the iPhone very hard in order to make the weapon work. Playing the game seems effortless, even though each game is challenging.

In short, I would highly recommend High Noon. If you don’t have any money to spare on a game but you would still like a new app for your iPhone, I would suggest downloading High Noon.

The iPhone 5, IOS6, A6 Chip Review

The iPhone 5 Review

All You Need To Know About The iPhone 5

In Short… It’s A Lot Better Than Its Predecessors, BUT…

Prior to the iPhone 5 reviews, rumors rang loudly on all corners of the globe. Everyone came up with their own theories, analysis and speculations.

To be honest with you, I was really excited about it myself and I’m sure many of you were too. I had to wait till Apple finally blew the whistle, and then the rumors stopped.

Now that the lid is off, details of the iPhone 5 is finally out, and there is no more need for speculations.

So let’s quit talking about the past & Let’s Get Really Started with What’s New About the iPhone 5?

Physical Dimension / Observation:

– The Thinnest phone by Apple (7.6mm), & weighs 112 grams

– Taller than its predecessors (123.8 H x 58.6 W) compared to iPhone 4 series (115.15 H x 58.6 W)

– Exterior is made entirely out of Aluminum and Glass

– Comes in 2 colors; Black & White.

– Nano-SIM card. Smaller than previous SIM cards

– TV-out – Smaller socket

Screen Display:

– The screen has a 4-inch display.

– Touch sensors on the screen is Built-into the display.

– The glass is 30% thinner. This makes it less prone to glare.

– Has a 16:9 aspect ratio and vertical pixels which add a fifth row of Icons to the home screen.

– Pixels are 1136×640, around 44% more color saturation. And that means Splendid Images.

One thing I really love about the great graphics and bigger screen, is the idea of watching widescreen movies. With Such a larger screen, you have more space and therefore less scrolling down or from side to side.

One major concern many of you will have, and mainly cell phone app developers, is how will an old app work on the iPhone 5. With such a big screen it is bound to affect in one way or another the app’s function, or at least damage the graphics to fit the screen size.

No Worries. Apple has already thought of that (at least that’s the message they try to deliver). To keep your minds at ease, all old apps downloaded on the iPhone 5 will keep its original size with black borders around the empty space.

I must admit, with such thick black borders it wouldn’t look so pretty, and it would be less comfortable playing certain games. But it is still better than nothing. Besides, it won’t be long before the old apps are updated to fit the new iPhone 5 and then you’ll really enjoy it.

Ultrafast Wireless Technology:

Better Connection… Faster Outreach

– GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, HSPA. Now: HDPA+, DC-HSPDA (42Mbps),

– and 4G LTE.

The Best iPhone Apps for Writers!

Every year after 2010 is becoming more and more mobile, and people’s every day lives are made substantially more easy because of so many readily available sources of information. In the very palm of our hands, many of us have these portable devices that link our lives together from one end of the planet to the other, and back again, within the blink of an eye. What was once amazing in itself – the every day cellphone – has evolved into the very pinnacle (and best example of) modern technology, and all of it fits in your pocket.

The more exciting the world of cellular technology becomes, the more excited the creative thinker will get exponentially. As their ability to log every tidbit that crawls through their brain at any point of the day becomes heightened with useful gadgets and applications, it’s easy to see why a writer would use their mobile device as their most precious tool. Replacing the all-mighty pen (and shrinking the all-mighty keyboard) is no easy task, and you would need other things writers use on a day to day basis, compiled all into a palm-sized nugget of technological practicability.

Luckily, the Apple company introduced another useful product into our lives – the iPhone, one of the most popular mobile devices used in the world. This device, as well as many others that will be increasingly compatible, offer a number of devices that the aspiring writer will find endlessly useful in many different parts of the writing process. Whether you’re an editor, a freelancer, or a creative writing genius, this helpful list of apps can help you with all your organizational needs as well as make the process itself far more convenient.

Writing Apps

These applications are suited for your actual writing itself, presenting the best and most credited ease of use and accessibility. They are Momento, AuthorJotter, and ScriptWrite. These three apps seem to have the greatest number of satisfied users, and the least amount of issues with the iPhone.

Momento

Often referred to as “self-tweeting”, the Momento app twists together micro-blogging and mobile authoring to create a beautiful knot of convenient writing excellence. It’s great for those momentary snaps of genius, or the “light bulb over your head” feelings you always seem to get when there’s no laptop or pen within an arm’s reach.

AuthorJotter

This app is very often hailed as one of the very best available for any sort of writer. This app is free, and held in high regards because of it’s ease of use and simple yet organized capabilities. You can write, save, and back-up everything from spontaneous creative ideas to entire chapters of your book-to-be.

ScriptWrite

This app is great for scriptwriters as well as anyone looking for a “clean slate”, so to speak. It’s easy and maintainable, and now that the newer versions have fixed any scrolling issues this app seemed to have, it seems like one of the smoothest to use writing apps available for a mobile device.

Organizational Apps

Only two apps are praised and noted enough in the writing community to be listed here, because they deal with things writers have to deal with on a daily (more like hourly) basis; keeping track of what you’ve done, and keeping track of what you have to do. These two applications are WorkLog and YouNote.

WorkLog

This free app is known to be simple and great at keeping writers (as well as other people with shifty schedules like photographers, musicians, even surgeons) on task and on appointment. WorkLog tracks the time you work on your projects, and it lets you make notes and suggestions on each one to be sure you’re doubly prepared.

YouNote

This app is free if you get the Lite version, however the full YouNote iPhone app costs just over $7.00. Your notes on YouNote are easy to manage as well, and can include audio and image along with your text. You can also make notes to certain websites you view on your device with YouNote, making your surfing experience more research oriented.

Writing Tools

The tools writers need on occasion are more and more accessible every day. Now, with these simple apps, you can get all the help you need right on your iPhone, without moving from wherever you happen to be sitting. The most useful apps for helping writers are the Dictionary.com app, VocabDaily, and WikiMobile.

Dictionary.com

This indispensable website has now become an even more indispensable app for your iPhone, lucky you! As you could have probably guessed, this is an app that can be endlessly useful, especially since definitions include synonyms, suggested usages, origins, inflections, and all that other great stuff you usually expect from Dictionary.com.

VocabDaily

This app is great, because as our vocabulary changes from day to day (and it does!), we can keep up with it and change our writing styles to avoid confusion – and in many cases, offense. A good writer is constantly increasing their vocabulary as language and writing itself evolves, and this app in that way is pretty genius.

WikiMobile

As you would expect, the wealth of knowledge and research capabilities that is Wikipedia has gone even more mobile than your laptop, and now exists in your shiny iPhone. Ever want to spend a few moments learning about something fascinating, and then write about it at length, without even having to move anything but your eyes and your fingertips? Well now, you can. Isn’t technology wonderful? (To be fair, there is an alternative to this app called Wikipanion that also is raved about quite often. Honorable mention!)

Now that you’ve got a list of neat goodies to try out on your iPhone, I suggest you get writing and let technology help you do what you were born to do – think, and work!
